What a treat it would be to one day have one of Iginla's son's dress for the Flames. May the planets align!

Yeah Rhett's right.

5'5" 110lb kid trying to convince the organization and city that he's a better pickup over Iggy's kid .. he doesn't stand a chance. Unless there's a huge amount of separation between the two people will be roasting them for not going for the Iginla.

The incompetence goes all the way down to the Hitmen it appears. An Iginla would've helped them get butts into seats even if he wound up disappointing.

Creates a tie between Jarome and the city again to warm him up to future opportunoties... way too much upside.

CSEC needs to be burnt to the ground. Morons.

CSEC is probably just worried about the appearance of nepotism.

Hiring every Sutter that ever played hockey will do that.

Son of one of the best ball hockey players in Canadian history got taken by the Victoria Royals in the 4th round. That's the extent of my WHL draft knowledge.

The other kids stats are better. His stats in the U-15 league last season eclipsed what Iginla's are this season and he was playing for the U-18 team this year.

So from purely on-ice reasons I get it.

But from a marketing perspective...the Hitmen feel like an afterthought in the city now with the Flames and Wranglers taking most of the market. Having an Iginla would have created Buzz, and sold jerseys and tickets IMO.

Noah Kosick could be the best player in the draft. He put up almost 1.5 points per game playing U18 this year as a 14 year old. Yeah; he's like really small.

I don't think it would have made a big deal in the WHL, he was obviously ranked in the area he was taken. If anything, it may have drawn in some ticket sales.

Yeah, it’s far more likely that Iginla’s kid went higher than he should have due to name recognition than the Hitmen just being stupid.

Hey! He was a total stud for the Salsa in 96-97. Leading scorer on a team that featured three (!) future NHLers. I have vivid memories of that time in my life, going to what seemed as a kid like every game. Really cool to see him come back home to raise a family and have his son be a top prospect.
