Maybe it will rain for 40 days straight.

Fat shaming is something that seems to be gaining some media attention as of late (or maybe I just haven't been paying attention). Can someone explain to me why it is so horrible of a thing to do though? I mean yes it shouldn't be in public or of strangers, but how is it any different than how people shame smokers?

One of my closest friends has recently started dating a girl who has convinced him that bull#### like Reiki, Healing Touch, Power Crystals, and the like are legitimate things.
He won't stop talking about them, and every time I have an opposing viewpoint (being a pretty heavy skeptic) I feel like a total ass for bringing in "negative energies".
You just can't ####ing win and it's leaving me exhausted in frustration and genuine concern.

He's being sarcastic/facetious.
I don't think we should be shaming smokers either. I thinking shaming people will either piss them off or hurt them. We have one thread here where we say "oh those horrible kids... bullying people". And then we have threads where we say "hey, those people should be bullied". There are much better ways to promote change than ridicule. Like I said before, it was the bullying in high school regarding my weight that lead me to near suicide. Making people feel really small is not a solution.... Unless the goal is to hurt people. Then kudos.

Really, what should they have brought him back on? He wasn't currently charged with any serious offenses. There was nothing we could do really. We informed the US who he was and after that it is their laws that govern. he was a US Citizen. I think we handled it correctly.

Didn't he cut off a tracking ankle bracelet?
I'd say that's a serious offense given his past convictions. Sexually assaulting females aged 15 months to 80 years old...

My main complaint is that they let him out in the first place. I think being labelled high risk to re-offend should get someone locked up indefinitely.
