Just put a ban on Dodge Rams and BMWs in the park. Those guys aren’t the type to take a train.

It 100% does, but it's the kind of boondoggle I'm down for. Same with Olympics. At least it's fun and not some boring KXL or war room or tylenol or whatever other boondoggle du jour

Can we maybe get a far more useful Green Line in the north first?

No, youll get what you get and be happy about it
A reporter said on twitter its kind of a nothing announcement expected, just that there was a study completed about all the possible rail projects. No funding announcements.

"Passenger Rail" rather than " transit" tells me this is either Calgary - Edmonton rail or Calgary - Banff rail. I would think the Calgary - Edmonton route would probably be announced in Edmonton. So this is more likely than not the Calgary - Banff announcement.

If this province has money to burn, can’t we just stop the fight with teachers, doctors, nurses, etc.?
Build some schools, build some hospitals, etc.?

Edmonton is dead to her, she’ll never announce anything there, except maybe public service cuts.

I happen to like the Aussie downhill sports fellas that have at least one representative member in every Banff establishment.

Yep. My doctor is in her 30's and informed us last week that she is retiring due to this government's fight against doctors.
Plenty of other doctors are leaving the province or going private.

Normally I don't condone wishes of violence against public elected officials, but in the case of Ol' Smitty?

Why have a dedicated Banff passenger rail when the government can just reduce "red tape" safety regulations so passengers can ride on gravel trains on the way to the Lafarge Plant outside Canmore.
Look at how much fun this guy is having on a Mauritania ore train. And he's already got his ski googles on.

Has anyone whose actually been on a CTrain wanted to take it the airport with anything more than a backpack? Lugging a giant suitcase on a crappy 40 year old U2 sounds awful.

This government has neither the foresight nor patience to engage in a project that will almost certainly extend beyond their terms in office. If there is an inter-municipality passenger rail announcement the most reasonable conclusion is that a grift is happening that will rob us of many years and treasures that could have actually gone towards this project, but will come to nothing. In 10 years we will have lost millions, there will not be a plan in place, but they will have talked it up so much that it actually has to happen, at which point we will spend 2 twice as much on a commuter rail that goes from the Petro on Hwy1 to Deadmans Flats, rather than Calgary to Banff or a rail that will go from Airdrie to Leduc, just to ensure that it is not useful to 98% of the population.
This is the faith I have in the Smith government, but it's probably fair to call me cynical when it comes to them.
