Another vote for Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Not only for the comedy, but I think that movie shows how under-appreciated he was as an actor.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I think John Candy was a lousy actor. Great person and funny guy but always a little awkward on screen. Maybe that adds to his charm and likability.

You're probably right. Maybe he never found his perfect role. Take a look at Bill Murray. Who knew he could act?

I was going to post this. He was great in JFK, although very little screen time. John Candy could have had a long acting career including dramatic roles. I miss him.
