He had a brief stint as the Blackhawks' "middleweight" enforcer. He actually managed 12 goals in 61 games as a bottom 6 guy on a pretty weak team. RIP.

that's two former NHLers gone today (him and Konstantin Koltsov). Brutal news.

RIP. Condolences to his family and friends.

Not sure he was ever considered a middleweight. He was one of the toughest guys in the league.

I'm sure there is a better picture out there, or maybe even a gif/vid but this was my favorite moment of Chris Simon in his time with the Flames. Not even a fight, but a goal he scored against Tampa in the '04 Stanley Cup Final.

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole over the lunch hour (I guess because it is coming up on 20 years), and was scrolling through a few of the 04 final round games on youtube and watched that goal. His jump into the boards after was amazing.

I see its posted earlier in the thread.

Simon had a pretty long and successful career in pro hockey. 15 years in the NHL and 6 in KHL.

RIP

Man this is sad. RIP Chris. Great memories of his time as a Flame.

This was not the news I was hoping to see when I opened CP. RIP Chris. That's two members of the 04 team that have now passed

Very sad to hear news like this. Leaves a lot of fond memories for many behind. Hope his family gets the support they need at this terrible time.

Man, Montador and now Simon, that's so sad. Such memorable players in their time here.

He was way too young, so this is a total shocker for me. May he RIP.

Hockey really let him down during and after his career. As much as I love big hits and fights, I'm glad that the NHL is taking concussions a lot more seriously now.

Chasing after Saprykin on one skate after the overtime goal against Tampa. Was on the bench getting a skate blade replaced, but didn't want to miss out on the celebration.

I’ve had a jersey signed by him.

Rest in Peace, Chris.

This one hits hard. Loved him, absolute unit for us in '04. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Saw this rumor circulate earlier on Reddit and held out hope it was false. Brutal news.
