Even if Sid wants to stay, he shouldn’t be able to dictate mortgaging the future for a futile attempt at going for it because they have a few good players. It’s not basketball where one player makes that great of a difference. That team overall is junk. One quarter are quality nhl players and the rest are a minor league team. Players shouldn’t be able to dictate stuff like this. Better off if he requests a deal. Only way to salvage a future is to recoup assets which they should have done three years back.

Whatever is going on it’s a mess. Can’t see how the team comes together if the internal politics of the team are as bad as they seem.

I think the sale to the Fenway group has this franchise doomed for some time…

This would be a dream come true for Dubas. It is pretty clear that the best thing the Penguins could do is rebuild at this stage. I have my doubts Lemieux would ok Dubas trading Crosby unless he requested a trade. That would be the best thing that could actually happen for the Penguins, they would get a haul for Crosby even as a rental and they could get decent assets for Malkin and Letang too.

Doubt it. I think Dubas wants to strip it down but kind of has his hands tied by ownership who wants to keep this core together for some final pushes which clearly isn't working. It's a mess there.

Not really shocking as Pens fans have been calling for his head all season.
He runs the pp and it's been awful. That's likely the reason he got fired.

Yup, basically a repeat of what happened last year with the GMs, this time with the coaches. Although, I don't think Treliving brings in Sutter to coach the Leafs (wouldn't that be great though?).

Would not surprise me if a few days from now Shanahan is dumped and because of the new MLSE CEO’s relationship with Brads dad, and how these guys speak, Brad is named the new President.

I would be shocked if either Keefe or Shanahan survive a loss tonight.

You never know with the Leafs. Last season, everyone kept saying if they didn't make noise in the playoffs, heads were going to roll and big changes were going to be made. Yet they beat a broken-down Lightning team before getting curb-stomped by the Panthers, and that was enough to make people say "Progress!" and essentially keep the status quo.
This year, everyone wrote them off after Game 5. Even if they lose tonight, do people now argue that they forced a Game 7, and Nylander stepped up, and Matthew tried to play through whatever injury he has, so "Progress!"

Nope. They lose tonight and it's back to square one and panic and bloodlusting. Keefe will be fired and Marner driven out of town.
