Bennett was already traded at the time.
I said it at the time before we traded Bennett, that we should have kept him to dangle as expansion draft bait because his trade value wasn't super high. Seattle ended up getting a fair bit more by trading Giordano than what we got for trading Bennett. If Gio wasn't in the Flames plans anymore, trading him would have been way better asset management.
To Toronto:
Mark Giordano ($3,375,000 retained - 50%) · $3,375,000
Colin Blackwell · $725,000
To Seattle:
2022 2nd round pick (TOR - #58 - Niklas Kokko)
2023 2nd round pick (TOR - #57 - Lukas Dragicevic)
2024 3rd round pick (TOR - #88)
vs.
To Florida:
Sam Bennett · $2,550,000
2022 6th round pick (CGY - #187 - Gustav Karlsson)
To Calgary:
Emil Heineman · $0 (AHL/JR) (Signing Rights)
2022 2nd round pick (FLA - #61 - David Goyette)
Really bad asset management by the wizard.
