If there was ever a time for Neal and Bennett to come out of their offensive funk, it's this weekend as i think both will be leaned on pretty heavily. Really good opportunity for Jankowski as well.
Bigger concern is the PK though....with both Gio and Backlund out, that is a whole lotta missing special team minutes.

Really odd to me that Jankowski has never even practiced with the 2nd power play unit.
I wonder what’s behind that. You’d think he’d get at least a sniff by now.
Anyway, hoping he, Hanifin, and Anderssen make the most of being bumped up in the lineup, and Mangiapane and Neal break out too.

Really that's as good as possible. I assume the third pairing will see a tiny amount of ice time.

Literally half this line-up never played in Calgary last year if you include Andersson's cup of coffee.
Crazy.

With the back to back I could see Hamonic/Hanifin playing 55 minutes this weekend!

Oh guess I spoke too soon. Looks like Ryan’s centering the 2nd line. Hoping the 3rd line crushes it tonight.

IMO, aside from Lindholm, Ryan comes closes to Backlund in skating and defensive play (for centres). So if you don't want to change the top line, he's the choice.
It also disrupts the other lines as little as possible, leaving two intact from last game. Move Lindholm and then you have to change three lines, because presumably Neal goes from the third to the first.

Yeah, I get the logic. Just lacking some confidence in it.

I'm more concerned with the d-pairings. Bridie switching sides and the big meat head on the 3rd pairing with killington. I really hope Killington steps up tonight!
I wonder if it's really a case of running 5 dman tonight with brodie playing minutes on both sides alternating with the rookies. Having prout spelling him off with limited time.

Even with all the guys out, this lineup isn't that bad.
I agree that the biggest concern is the PK - that will get taxed tonight, and especially tomorrow night.

I would argue that Jankowski/Bennett/Neal IS the 2nd line.

How can you not trust Peters with lineup decisions at this point? Ryan is a better 200 foot centre than Jankowski. Plus, Jankowski has been playing well with his current linemates, so why change that?

He deserves a shot to step up with backs out. Janko has the potential to be a top 6 forward.
Big game for Hanifin. He's going to be logging Gios minutes I assume.

Setting a lineup is about way more than rewarding players. It's about putting them where the team will benefit, and them to a degree. It always strikes me as an odd conclusion that a player who is doing well should be "rewarded" by making him play with other linemates who maybe don't lead to the same success for him.
"Jankowski is doing much better with Neal and Czarnik. Let's play him with Bennett who he was mediocre with, and a guy he's never played with before in Tkachuk".
