The costumes at Chinook were embarrassing, but the movie was fantastic. IMO, the best of the series so far. Not even close.

Hulk was an original Avenger. The relationship between the Hulk and the other Avengers has always been pretty interesting.

just got back and I think this has overthrown The Dark Knight for the best Comic Book movie. Though when I think of TDK I don't really think of it as a comic book movie because it is so real compared to all these other comic book movies and it is just a really really good film. The Avengers is what a comic book movie should be.
Everything mentioned about the Hulk's awesome moments were my favorite too. When he

Greatest movie of the year no doubt! I thought the Dark Knight would put up a fight but man, Avengers was too awesome! Bane to me can not take on the Joker.....
We are going to be spoiled for the summer no doubt...

This movie was a blast. Just plain fun. It totally had that Joss Whedon feel all over it. Especially the scene at the end of the full credits. I definitely LOLed.
The 3D didn't really add a whole lot to the movie (as per usual), but it was the only tickets we could get with decent seating.

Loved the movie from start to finish.
A few complaints though....
Other than that, it was an awesome movie that I look forward to seeing again. Took my wife and daughter to this as well, both loved it.

Caught this last night, and really enjoyed it. My friends and I are in the "Hulk steals the show" camp, as well. I think my favorite moment was Hulk interrupting Loki.
Not a fan of the 3D, though. Can that fad die faster, please?

Saw it Thursday at midnight, dudes dressing up, it was a massive nerd fest.
Movis was a lot of fun. It had plenty of action, it was emotional when it needed to be, and it was genuinely funny as well. There was enough cheese to know you were watching a comic book movie and it didn't take itself too seriously and that's a good thing.
The thing that stood out for me was the genuine laughs. They weren't the lame one liners a la James Bond movies. There were some solid laughs with great timing. Thor's line about Loki being adopted was awesome.
One of my main concerns about Avengers going in was the distribution of screen time amongst the main characters. I didn't feel like any of the mains had too much or too little. Whedon spread it out nicely.
In regards to the secret scene
Solid movie, a lot of fun. 8/10

Absolute thrill ride of a movie. Best of the Marvel movies no doubt about it. Saw it on IMAX and would highly recommend it. Besides the non stop action and amazing CG special effects, the one liners are spot on.

Wow. $17m in midnight showings and $80 million on Friday alone.
Could hit $600m worldwide by Monday. That's mind bottling.

I had spoilers because it was a Thursday, but I'll edit the OP.
Is the $80M take on Friday legit? That means it will not only break the record, but completely destroy it. The record is around $169+M for an opening weekend. By those numbers it will go $200M+ for the weekend. I do hope it beats the record (would beat out the final Harry Potter film).

That's exactly what the article says. $200m for the weekend domestically. Based on the way the article is written in guessing that is way above expectations. And I'm sure expectations were pretty high.
Even the original article says $65m on Friday and the update says it did even better at $80m. Just $65 would have been impressive.

Me and a bunch of my friends when to see it after school. Awesome movie. One of my favorites over the last year. Really great effects and action.
All in all, great film. Dark Knight is next!

Yeah, I don't know why everyone keeps hiding spoilers. If you haven't seen the movie yet (and really who hasn't?) then you probably shouldn't check out a discussion thread based on this one movie. In other threads maybe hide spoilers, but in this one I wouldn't bother hiding anything.
As for my take on the movie, I agree with all of the above sentiments. The movie was a fun ride, filled with excitement. My only issue is with the no-name "alien menace" villains, but they were in tough to introduce a bigger name with the time constraints of having to form the group. And yes I realize they were sort of in the comics, but they are not well known to say the least.
Whedon was a great choice as director as he handled all the roles and characters flawlessly. It seemed to me like each of the characters had almost the same amount of screen time, and not one dominated the movie as I had feared with Downey Jr. being the lead. No matter which hero you're a fan of, you should have no quarrels with how they handled your characters. I felt that they were even able to improve upon Captain American and The Hulk from their previous movies.
I can't wait to see where they go from this, it would be a shame if we were forced to wait until 2016 until the second movie, and then 2020 for the third (hoping for a Civil War type movie).
Be sure to pick up the three hour DVD release when it comes out as apparently Whedon was forced to cut many scenes.
Great stuff!
