If Tkachuk can’t go, I think they keep in Rinaldo.

How is that a horrible start time for a Sunday? How is it any worse than 830pm mtn on a work night for most?

Personally I find this dramatically better than an 830 start time game. Plus my 1 year old can watch it with me gfg!

Agreed.

I expect today to be a nasty, chippy, physical game and Rinaldo provides that kind of stuff in spades. Just hope he doesn't take a penalty at a bad moment or at least takes someone with him.

Dallas is going to come out hard IMO and the Flames will need a response beyond the Lucic/Bennett combo.

I'm looking for a lot of this game to be played along the boards...it seems its what makes both clubs successful thus far.

Well you guys enjoy it then, I will be in the lake. I’ll check the scores when I have time and watch it if the Flames win.

Gaudreau isn't playing like a first line player but he has four points and is +2 in 7 games. Plus the Flames need to get him going. Don't be so dramatic.
One thing I just remembered this morning — didn’t Gaudreau injure his wrist late in Game 5 against Winnipeg and have to leave? Not suggesting it’s the sole root of the problem as he seemed to be stickhandling and shooting okay on Friday, but it might be reason why he’s being a bit more cautious out there..

Let’s face it — Johnny has NEVER been a physical player, so to suggest he should be grinding it out on the boards now seems a little far fetched. He’s a player that excels when he has time and space, and that’s not something he’ll easily get during the playoffs outside of the power play and occasional 4 on 4.

I also think the league (and specifically defenceman) have gotten quicker since Johnny broke into the league, which means he can’t just skate around everyone anymore...

Cavalry game at 10 should lead perfectly in to the start of the Flames game. Let’s have a great day Calgary!

August 5th Flamenspiel: In terms of interest though it’s not there. I am ok with watching the Flames with my sons as a family thing, once the Flames are out I will not watch any of the other games. In fact the Monday game at noon was a complete waste of time and i regret that i will never get that time back. From now on I will PVR the game and only watch it if the Flames win.

He played decent on Friday, had some nice passes to Mony that couldn’t convert and he also had a decent point shot that led to scramble in front. Let’s face it none of the lines looked good on Friday, Dube line looked the best and the Mony line might have generated the next most chances at ES.

That being said I wouldn’t mind switching Rinaldo and Johnny, not even a demotion, Johnny has shown chemistry with Derek Ryan before and I think Ryan deserves more ice time. Ryan and Quine are good at battling on the boards and retrieving pucks and none of Mony, Johnny, Lindholm are doing that (Surprising for Lindholm). I think Rinaldo with those guys could help bring some energy. Anyways the top line didn’t look as bad last game, especially in comparison to the other lines but if they do struggle I really hope we do see Johnny and Mony split up and Johnny get some reps with Ryan.
