It feels as though some teams can only be relevant if a generational player falls into their lap. Pretty sad that it's the only way certain teams can contend. Gotta respect teams like Carolina, Boston, and Dallas who can go far without bottoming out year after year.

Yeah, New Jersey would also be a better spot than Ottawa but they also have a GM who stalled and stalled and stalled, ending up acquiring Jake Allen after it was too late instead of a number 1 goalie who could have changed their results. If they can acquire a goalie this offseason they would be a solid landing spot for any coach.
