Rittich, the PP, Bennett, Lucic, Gio all looked great
Frolik janko should be put on the popcorn diet
Refs already cost themselves getting to officiate in the playoffs. Really pathetic effort

Tuned in late. Didn’t like Froliks play on the empty net goal, left Brodie out to dry when he could have provided the pick on Donskoi.

Every arena in the league might as well be the Honda center on opening night for the Flames. 3 wins in 30 years on the season opener.
Positives
Rittich is a legit starting goaltender
Bennett was a beast
Gio is ageless
Bottom pair D looked good
Top line had chances
Negatives
Frolik
Frolik
Frolik
Czarnik
Jankowski
Get Bennett to line two, Czarnik on the bench and Reider into the game.

Not mad. Great push back in the 3rd. Got better as the game went on. Aves got away with that high stick goal.

I'm sick of the 3M line.
Frolik just isn't a 2nd liner. Why not take a look at Bennett there?
I really wish that Zucker deal went through.

Just stunning we lost to the Avs...hated that opening matchup the second I saw it on the schedule. Not a surprising result..way more excited for the home opener on Saturday, that's the real opener for me ![](https://emoji.tapatalk-cdn.com/emoji91.png)

When the extra man was out at the end of the game, the best player for controlling the puck on the Flames was... Lucic.

Hard to tell how much of this was the Flames typical season opening flop and how much was a continuation of the playoffs

The good news is that we know a first game loss means absolutely nothing for the Flames. It’s just what they do to kick things off.

Meh.
Chucky wasn't all that good tonight.
He probably shoulda come to camp.
Every time someone holds out through camp they have a slow start or a poor year. Tkachuk doesn't seem to be different.

Yeah, I didn't see that as Brodie's mistake.
He HAS to try and keep that puck in, which is easy to do if he gets some help from the forward (Frolik). Tie up Donskoi's stick, dive to poke the puck, do something.

Bennett looks good, he may actually break out.
Janko and Frolik didn’t look good. Improving on them would be huge for this roster.
Good effort in the final 60 to recover after what was a horrible first 20 minutes.

Like clockwork, the Flames lose the opener. Pretty decent game to watch and pretty good effort from the Flames. Just lost on a goal that shouldn’t have counted due to the high stick nonsense. Boo/yawn. Onto Saturday against the stupid ‘nucks.
