I don't think there is an appreciable gap between Stajan and Brouwer. Interesting that Brouwer got an NHL deal. But I suppose Stajan might have just wanted to give playing in Europe a go.

After he is done playing, he will probably join the flames front office like McGrattan

Shine on you brilliant soldier!
Matt Stajan....the best thing to come from the Dion Phaneuf trade.
Have a couple of pints for me at Oktoberfest.
I rarely say this, but I hope he comes back to the Organization when hes done playing he and his family are amazing people and anyone would be lucky to have them.

Hmmm, I just might be in Munich first week of December. Wonder if I can convince the wife to go to a Red Bulls game.
Nothing but respect and appreciation for Stajan, he and his family were great for the community.

Red Bull Munich is the three time defending league champions and has a goalie with the best name in sports?! 🤭

Aulie - drafted by flames, traded to Toronto without ever playing a game for the big club.

Pretty sure we also brought Aulie back on an AHL deal a year or two ago.

That would be a pretty big Oiler move right there and Edmonton is No Good.
There's no reason to bring him into the front office at all. What value would he add to the franchise? He was a marginal player that carved out a career primarily on rebuilding Flames/Leafs teams. Nice guy, hard worker but there's no need to get silly and give him some token position that amounts to nothing in the long run.

In the same trade that brought Stajan to Calgary

German hockey games are amazing fun. We could learn a lot from those fans.

Munich is one of my favourite cities to visit. I wouldn't hesitate to take a job there if given the chance.
The Red Bulls have won the last three league championships. They play in an arena about the size of the Corral and their most-expensive tickets are 34 Euro.

Good on ya Matt. You sure grew on me after I publicly hated you the first few years .
I can say today I'm happy you were here...... especially knowing how much your teammates loved you and from folks in the community who saw your dedication and giving back.
Best of luck #18

He wasn't a marginal player for the first few years - he was a solid middle six NHLer for the majority of his career.
As for value, IMO he has plenty to teach young players about adjusting their games, learning new roles, as well as the technical aspects of PK and faceoffs. His hockey IQ has kept him in the game longer than his talent, which lends itself to an off ice position.
Anyway, even if he was a "marginal" player, so were a lot of really good coaches.
