Tons of good content on the Oiler HF board. The sky is falling and their fanbase is more divided than ever.
Some are being reasonable (somewhat), looking to sell off McDavid/Drai for enormous returns and rebuild properly. Some are adamant a re-tooling is only required and to go all-in on McDrai one last time.
If people thought Calgary was a disaster after Johnny/Chucky leaving, imagine how negative that city is going to look after they lose McDavid and Drai. It's already 1 A/B the worst city to be in, letalone losing the LONE reason any player would be content playing there.
The only thing keeping McDrai in Edmonton is the fact it is likely the only city they will be able to play on the same team again. No one in the league could A) Give up the assets to secure both and B) Clear $30M of cap each season to sign them both to enormous contracts.
They're BFFs, have houses together in Ontario, etc, etc. What they value is going to be telling, them being content with losing, padding stats (Not even true this season) and coasting on a bad team, or truly chasing a ring and start GAF again.
Its easy to see the brains behind Detroit was way more Jim Nill than Kenny Boy.
And pretty much all his success in Detroit was before the salary cap world where free agent after free agent flocked to the Wings, Rangers, Avalanche and Stars.

From HF boards. They actually believe that every player in the NHL wants to play with McJesus because......I have no idea. The disillusionment is strong up North.
"Like even look down the highway, you don't think Huberdeau or Kadri wouldn't come running to play with McDavid/Draisaitl over what they have to play with there?
Patrik Laine? Zack Werenski? I know Bo Horvat wanted to play with McDavid badly, it's jus the economics of it wouldn't work.
If the Oilers weren't run by idiots and the Penguins were entering a rebuild, I think Crosby would want to play with McDavid too. They play together in the summer apparently and according to MacKinnon they just dominate everyone including his group, lol."
Hahahaha these guys are clowns and deserve every bit of misery coming their way. Gotta love it

It is not just four 1st overall picks in six years. It's an additional seven top-ten picks in thirteen years. It's drafting Nail Yakupov, Jesse Puljujarvi and Kailer Yamamoto in the first round with nothing to show for it. It's drafting Philip Broburg #8 and now having to play him on your second pairing.
Good god. The Oilers are the luckiest sports franchise on the planet, and the suck beyond imagination.

The Oilers' schedule doesn't get any easier either. The Caps are playing well, have won 5 in a row, and will likely demolish them tomorrow. Ducks have lost 4 straight, so they'll be just as desperate as Edmonton. That game won't be easy by any stretch.
