Ballin', time to run the lights extra long over the next month in honor of this thread....although the 0.002c/kwh savings isn't so huge compared to .04c last month

Holy crap...wonder why the rate shoots up like that in October...the past two years it has gone down that month, and indeed Oct has been one of the cheaper months (which makes sense, and neither air conditioning or heaters are going full out during the month).

I'm on the fixed. Easier to budget for.

Fixed is good for electricity right now, but no good for gas.
Just watch your bill month-to-month and you are fine.

Bump, November 2011 rate is $0.09165, fixed is still $0.08. I would have never even have looked if it wasn't for this thread, you've been saving me money all fall.

LOL - Appreciate the update Hulk, but you're a month late
The rate you quoted is the rate that's been in effect for the past 28 days. Hopefully today or tomorrow they update with the December rate!

Here's the link: http://www.enmax.com/Power/Tariffs/R...ergy+Rates.htm
I have an update checker checking evrey day to tell me when that page changes, so we know when December's (or whatever the next month is) rate changes.

Haha, I only look when I pay my bill, so I check to make sure I still saved money for the last month. Which I did. Yay!

LOL, fair enough! I check before the 1st of the next month (they have a window of 1-3 days from when they post the next months' rate to the start of that month). Then I can change my rate from floating to fixed or vice versa for that month.
ie: Say the December floating rate comes out tomorrow, the 29th, and it's $0.05 (for illustrative purposes). If I call before Dec 1, I can go back to floating for December. Rinse repeat and I do that every month to get the lower of fixed or floating.
I probably save $1.45 but boy, the thrill!

1.45 x 12 months = a 12 pack of cheap beer!

december rate will be above 13 cents
I can't remember the exact rate but the floating rate for electricity for December will be above 13c/kwh for the mth of Dec in Calgary.
BTW for those who change from fixed to floating, when you go back to floating you go back at the fixed rate available at that time. Based on what the competitiors are at I would not be surprised to see the fixed rate go up a Enmax soon. Not December but it would not surprise me if it went up soon

When you're paying less for utilities in the summer months on the floating rates i'd be willing to bet the majority of people locked into fixed rates don't want the hassle of changing back. This is likely how they make all there money on easy max.
Also don't you need to give 60 days notice to change? No denying the fixed is a savings right now but there's got to be stipulations on canceling as far as giving notice etc.
Its still a rip off either way you go when you're paying large percentages of your bill to service fees and admin charges.

And there are no other charges or anything for switching without notice?
