Less than 1% of CIS players make it to the NHL. Guys like Derek Ryan, Joel Ward, or Logan Thompson are the rare exception.
Agreed that it's a decent league that graduates a surprisingly large amount of pro players though. In the past decade, the level of talent going to the CIS has increased tenfold. Most of the current U of A team were top six forwards and top four dmen in the WHL. Apparently the CIS teams from the maritimes (particularly UNB and Saint Mary's) are quite good as well. At least a third of those players are going to graduate to a respectable pro-league like the DEL, EIHL, EBEL, or SHL
