I disagree about it being a minor upset. Even though I didn't like the movie I thought she was brilliant in her role and did a great job.

Ok let’s not let Al on stage anymore. That was the most awkward presentation I’ve seen since they gave Warren Beatty the wrong envelope.

She was brilliant and in the other thread I said she should win but I'm wondering, how did you know how brilliant she was if you walked out of the movie? her best acting skills shined 3/4 of the way into the movie IMO

Not to say Stone wasn't a deserving winner but even in this thread it was mentioned Gladstone was the favorite, slight as it probably was.

I largely dont care about the Oscars and its essentially just entitled self-indulgent masturbation for Elites.
But there are occasions when they do something that I agree with.
So....HUGE congratulations to Da’Vine Joy Randolph!!
She was amazing in The Holdovers.
Her winning a statue actually makes me happy.

I thought Gladstone was fine but she didn't have to do that much for her role, most of it was quite deadpan. Stone's character was much more difficult to pull off, the tone of voice, the cadence, the dialogue delivery, etc. She was just so enjoyable to watch.
Pacino looked weird during that last presentation and was kinda out of it, well he is getting old. Just checked, he'll be 84 next month.

Agreed.
I liked Gladstone a lot, but the character itself did not have much range to showcase.
While Stone was best this year, i found the best actress category lacking a bit this year compared to last year especially

I thought she was pretty bland in Killers tbh.

I thought is was pretty brutal how they let Ironman babble on and on, but played off the Godzilla team that was English 2nd language.

That acceptance speech was pure iron man too. Not the RDJ that other actors describe behind the scenes (allegedly a better human).
No acknowledgement of Ke Huy Quan who was excited to announce his name. Normally comment section outrage comes off dramatic, but I think people who weren't impressed had a point.
That was a 180 from Cillian, who looked every presenter in the eye and gave them each a moment of gratitude, and still came off like a rock star.

Huh. I thought our RDJs speech seemed pretty lighthearted and funny. It’s actually hard to believe that anyone had issues with it. Why would he have to thank the guy who got to announce the award?

Because it's good form?
He picked up his award like it came off a shelf. Didn't even look the man in the eye. Maybe watch it again because if you call that fine and without any detectable issue, you're mistaken.

Lol
What a scandal. Enemies for life I’m sure.
Pretty sure I saw Emma Stone only hug 3 of the 5 women on stage when she won. What a monster! She clearly snubbed Charlize and the other woman on the end.

You’re a clown. Go find somewhere else to troll.
Omg. RDJ how could you! Let’s cancel him! He’s clearly a monster!
