Ferguson is my number one chice. But Fallon is growing on me. He has such a cool take on interacting with the celebs. Playing flip cup, battleshots, lip sync offs, it's fresh.

The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
Leno and Fallon seem pretty chummy right now, but if this article is true and CNN successfully woos Leno over, it could potentially sabotage Jimmy's effors on the tonight show.

If that happens, then it totally cements Jay as the douchiest guy in late night.
He is a ######, but that might be a good thing for NBC in the long run. Cut out the cancer that is the Leno fanbase. Short term pain for a better product and a look to their future audience. They let it burn them once already.

Why? It would only prove that Leno is funnier. And he is. Is it Leno's obligaiton to prop Fallon AFTER he leaves NBC? I don't think so.
I was at Leno's performance in Vegas a few years ago. One hour. I could not speak for two hours after that because my jaws were hurting from laughing. He is that funny, naturally. He knows how to make people laugh out loud; not smirk or cackle from a sarcastic remark, but laugh. I saw all episodes of "Comedians in Cars Having Coffee" with Seinfeld. I found Leno's episode the most hilarious of all and there were some seriously funny people in there.
I like Fallon. Everybody likes Fallon, because he is adorable and young. But he does not have Leno's sense of humour nor Letterman's quick wit/meanness. His shows are for the most part too sweet. Can he sustain bankable interest in the show based only on the Tweeter generation's viewership? Will see.

Leno used to have the chops as a respected stand-up. Once he got The Tonight Show he settled on doing bland lowest-common-denominator humor.
I believe he is still capable of doing good stand-up. ...
I agree with this part of your assessment. When I watched Leno doing stand-up and, in general, when I watch him off the Tonight Show, I have a feeling he's tired of being a talk show host and just wants to make people laugh.
Then again, I think Fallon's show is also getting bland very quickly. No controversy. No sharpness.

I believe he is still capable of doing good stand-up. As a talk show host, he is lame. And a back-stabber.
The demographic that enjoys Leno on The Tonight Show are getting old, and NBC should be looking at the younger audience.
Fallon is a great guy for this generation of talk show audiences. And Leno picking up a talk show somewhere else after leaving the Tonight Show would just show that he's a two-faced hack. He's acting quite chummy with Fallon right now, seemingly letting Fallon take over so amicably. If he went and got another show in a similar time slot, it would just be very backstabby, showing that he doesn't care for Jimmy in the least bit. Maybe it's all fair in TV land, but in terms of real life, it would not be cool, especially given his history with Conan.
On a different note, Colbert did an interview with ##### Riot the other day. They were pretty neat guests to have. Loved how defiant they were against Putin. I found their belligerent anti-establishmentarianism pretty hot!

I don't get this. He is being forced out of his job, why does he owe it to Fallon or anyone else to leave the spotlight. He is still being a good soldier, bringing along Fallon, as he did Conan before him. But once the checks stop why should he have to give up something he obviously enjoys. If he can get a show on CNN then all the power to him.
