Some may have wondered whether the locals would back the Heat against the Moose, who happen to be the top farm club of the Vancouver Canucks. So it was fascinating to note that the cheer the Heat received when they hit the ice prior to the opening puck-drop dwarfed the one that the Moose got.
Awesome.

Sportsnet has been showing highlights of the game. Was at a bar so had no sound, but looked like Grantham had a good scrap. Backlund had a nice goal as well.

Yeah! Nice result considering the Heat started camp two days earlier.

Great news for the HEAT.

Are there any highlights online? There none on the Sportsnet website.

Here's a picture from the HEAT's Facebook page

Grantham leveled a guy into the boards. Can't remember who but someone from the Moose did not like the hit and dropped the mittens with Grantham.

Way to represent!!

I live in Vancouver, and I remember the last regular season visit to Vancouver for the Flames. I was taking the skytrain home as fans were coming the other way to GM place - guessing there were 2 Flames jerseys for every 10 Canucks jerseys. Really impressive!

I have season opening tickets for the Heat on October 9th - me and my buddy will be there representing!

Sounds like Backlund and Germyn are mad. Good.

A friend works for WestJet, and loaded the Manitoba Moose's flight to Abbotsford. Mike Keenan was flying with the team.

Is he working for them in some capacity?

You sure it wasn't Mike Keane?

You're right, he meant Mike Keane. He's an idiot.

Great for Backlund!

I think the AHL is absolutely the right place for him (to start the season anyway). A game like this has to be huge for his confidence, especially considering he was sub par offensively in the Flames camp.

When they play the Marlies, sometimes those are broadcast and I think the games may be available online for a price, ask Reggie.

2-2 2nd period. Apparently Kyle "Greenwood" got an assist.

I tried country 107.1 and last I looked they're playing top forty country hits.

I tried the Winnipeg station CJOB 68 and I all I get is a connection in progress message.

6-3 so far for the Heat tonight. Carpentier with a 4 point night, 1 goal (penalty shot) 3 assists. Van der Gulik goal and an Assist and i think Germyn has another goal and an assist for 6 points in 2 games.
