Nope. Sharpe continues to carry the Bronco curse. The hall of fame hates them. Randy Gradishar is still waiting to get inducted.

For arguments sake (even though he's stated numerous times he will stay in Indy) if P. Manning did decide to not re-sign with the Colts this season, who would be the most attractive fit and most likely destination for him?

Is it even worth discussing? Indy will just keep franchising him until they work out a long term deal. Lets face it no way that Stadium gets built in that team if the Colts had Jamarcus Russel at QB.

Really though a QB like him is going to fit anywhere he goes. His best chance to win, I think would be to join Tennessee. The AFC South wasn't a very good Division last year and he would easily shift the balance of power to the Titans who have pretty good receivers, what can be a decent defence and CJ2K.

Minnesota would also be an interesting destination. Again some decent offensive weapons around him. Also the dynamic that he could influence them getting a new Stadium which their owner desparately wants.

Miami would make a lot of sense, too. Good offensive line, decent weapons, decent defense.

I actually think a franchise tag would just piss Manning off, and he could easily hold out. That being said, if the Colts can't sign him then I fully expect a tag and trade situation (for which the return would be massive).

Manning is a Colt for life. He's no Favre attention whore. He will never go anywhere else IMO

Miami would make sense except for one tiny detail. He'd be in the same Division as Tom Brady, and the hype machine Jets who still have a pretty talented team. So really, thats not a great place for him to go if he wants to be in the playoffs every year. Sure the Dolphins would be greatly improved with him, but good teams in tough Divisions have a tough time making the Superbowl. Look at the Ravens, haven't been able to get to the big game for 10 years, largely because they can't get over the obsitcal that is the Steelers.

I understand you wanting to rationalize losing him if that happens, but the bolded statement is just goofy.

According to STATS LLC, Asomugha was targeted on just 33 pass attempts this season. He allowed 13 completions for 205 yards and no touchdowns.

Asomugha, a first-round pick (31st overall) in the 2003 NFL Draft, had eight interceptions in 2006, but only three since as opposiing teams usually avoided his side of the field
He missed 2 games this year. So in 14 games he gave up LESS THAN ONE COMPLETION against for 14 yards. That is simply...remarkable.

He isn't one of the best cover CB's in football...he is the best bar none. (with all due respect to revis)

The Packers have a recent history of going after former Raider CB's and it worked out awful well for them last time, so I suspect he will be seriously considered by TT and MM this off-season. Woodson will be 35 next year and this guy could easily slip in and assume that spot effortlessly and allow the Packers to continue to run their man-to-man heavy coverage for years to come with Tramon Williams and Sam Shields there as well.

Saying bar none is foolish as there is ton of debate between him and Revis. Especially since Revis always covers the #1 WR where as Asomugha moves around so it makes them impossible to compare.

I saw a couple of games this year where Revis didn't cover anyone.

Aso is the best, not even close

he isn't as good as C Wood was though when he was a Raider

I think there is a good chance he stays, think it's either Oakland, GB, NYJ, or Dallas

Not after this year.

QB's throw at Revis, they just don't against Asomugha...this is the most telling part of this debate.

Did you watch every Raiders game this season? Did you check out how many PI or illegal contact penalties he drew? He had a couple of games this year where he wasn't stellar. He's one of the best corners in the league but they all get beat. Nothing goofy about that.

Well you have to rationalize when you have the supposed best corner in the league and your defense is still amongst the worst in the league at giving up big plays. Is it worth paying all that money to a guy that teams can take out of the play lining up one receiver against?

Here's an article that sums up why the Raiders may be better off without him at the salary he may command and using that money on the other positions that more influence the outcome of games;

http://www.mercurynews.com/raiders/c...nclick_check=1

Still as of right now the odds on favorite for his services is still the Raiders. If Al Davis wants him back he will outbid any other team for his services and rumors are that he may bring back Rob Ryan as DC and assistant coach to Jackson because Aso loves Rob Ryan.

Well you have to take into account that the Raiders use man coverage more than any other team in the league so it's a lot easier not to throw in his direction than if he was back in zone coverage coverning an area of the field. The Jets use a lot of man coverage as well but not nearly as much as the Raiders do. OC's and QB's aren't stupid. They aren't even looking in the direction so Aso gets a bit of a free pass in that his guy is rarely ever the first or second read. The reason he doesn't get any interceptions is the same reason that he doesn't get beat much. If you don't throw there, nothing is going to happen.

I guess you didn't watch Saturday night's game where the best QB on the planet threw 1 single SCREEN pass to one of the best receivers in the country.

No I didnt see Brady play last week.

Now what do you think the entire season's targets are with Revis vs Asomugha?

Revis is a great player, he just isnt #1 at his position. Nothing wrong with that.

Oh but I guess I forgot he is “the best player in football.”

Probably Revis, because you ignore the statement that Revis shadows the #1 receiver every down. Asomugha moves around. Hence me saying it's impossible to compare. No QB in the NFL is going to ignore the #1 receiver all game long. Revis has a lower QB rating against than Asomugha, but like I said there's no way of knowing because the schemes are different and also Revis plays with a better counterpart in Cromartie.

So the Jets homer is saying Revis in the best and the rest of us think Aso is better. I wonder who's more objective.
