A record 4 million Georgians cast their ballots before Election Day this year, leading to relatively light in-person turnout Tuesday and more pressure to process early votes in a timely manner.
Gabriel Sterling with the secretary of state's office said in one of two news conferences Thursday that the counting process was on schedule and typical for any election.
"Fast is great, and we appreciate fast — we more appreciate accuracy," he said. "Accuracy is key and vital to all of our processes."
Oh god what a roller-coaster this thread and last 4 years have been. Not completely out of the woods yet and still the 2 month transition period where IMO it's really going to get crazy. But I finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. At least temporarily .
Now that racism and bigotry is out fully in the open in the US once again, Dems have a LOT of work to do during that time. And that begins with prosecuting Trump and his cronies for all the corruption and mayhem that went down. If they are serious about wanting the rest of the world to trust America again, they need to arrest, prosecute and sentence those who were responsible for this mess. None of this forgiving and moving on BS. Crimes were committed by those in power and need to be answered for. Otherwise the entire world get to ride this coaster once again in 4 years.
It's not enough to have a new POTUS and the rest of the world knows that and are making plans to move on. Prosecuting those responsible and instilling measures to ensure it doesn't happen again will go a long way to restoring that trust.
