I'd be hard pressed to choose between Parascak and Mews, but knowing that Hutson is available next pick makes it a no brainer. Obviously impossible to know in the real situation lol.

Bloody hell I hope Montreal doesn't #### us, again. I think they might be my personal most hated franchise outside of the oilers.
Target that Ottawa pick to have a sniff at Buium. He'll definitely be gone by 9.

Yeah, I doubt Buium is available at 9. If the Flames are going after D, it will likely come down to Parekh or Yakemchuk.

61: Muggli
I typically like to lean younger in the draft if possible. I think you have more runway and there is more room for hitting above your draft position.

I wouldn't be so sure Buium will be gone @ 9 but if he or Dickson are available I would be happy with either player (and Catton, Helenius or Iginla). There may not be another draft with so many possibilities as picks 3-10 are so widely interchangeable.
I know I don't want the team touch Parekh or Silayev with a 10 foot pole. You don't take defensive D or all out offensive D with serious flaws at the other end of the ice with high first round picks unless your system is loaded and you can handle a serious swing and miss imho.

The upside of both Parekh and Silayev is so tantalizing, though. I'd have a hell of a hard time passing that up.

D men typically go higher than projected at the draft, and smaller players typically drop. So I expect Buium, Silayev, and Dickenson to be gone at 9, and Parekh, Catton, and Helenius to be available. Iginla is a wild card.

You can't avoid the best players because they are more expensive.

They're not going to wait until the end of the year to give him his deal, they will pay up front. And he's already won a vezina, so that's what they'll be paying for. A vezina he won in a 49 game season, the most he's ever played. He will use the Hellybuck deal as a comparable. They will come in just under that at ~7.75 x 8 before he even plays a game. And despite what you or others say about Ullmark being better, their GM in waiting and HoF goalie disagrees and hasn't shied away from letting everyone know that.

Oh my god I just had the worst nightmare...
I had tuned into the draft late, just in time to see the Edmonton oilers (somehow l) pick Iginla. Then I rewound to our draft pick and we drafted some European kid I've never even HEARD of.
Jesus.

Playoffs
26 GP .911 sv% 2.90 GAA - 1990 DOB
10 GP .887 sv% 3.59 GAA - 1993 DOB
1993 guys teammate on the same team in playoffs
20 GP .922 sv% 2.38 GAA.
I would be a tad worried about the discrepancy there.

This is how I see it going down too.
Lindstrom is the other wildcard who I think drops because of injury concerns and D going earlier than ranked, but we probably see one of Lindstrom, Catton or Iginla, and then Parekh, Yakemchuk & Helenius.
I think the Flames would pick Iginla or Lindstrom, but they're both gone they take Parekh or Yak instead of Catton or Helenius.
This is based on nothing but my own random ravings

I don't see Lindstrom dropping at all, there is just to much to like there and everything points to him not having long term health issues. One of Columbus or Montreal is going to take him imo.

Definitely possible. I thought the same until they were saying he wasn't going to be a full combine testing participant.
