It will be interesting to see how the Oilers play once Kane comes back. Results show he was far more critical to the Oilers success than the Woodcroft hire. He definitely brings some toughness that the media seem to think is the downfall for the current team.
I hope the shine will be worn off on him and this season is more of the same for the Oilers

Oilers defence has more holes than Connor McDavid's socks.

It isn't being talked about as much as it should, but there is a pretty big chance that Kane will never be the same player again. He has significant nerve and tendon damage. It was reported not that long ago that he still doesn't have feeling in the hand. There is still lots of time before he is expected back and maybe he can overcome it, but even right after the injury, some medical professionals thought it could be career altering or even career ending.

They're saying he'll like be back in before the All Star break, so the whip smart Oilers medical staff clearly aren't rushing him or anything. No history of that with this organization.

Not only that, but if he does come back it'll likely take him several games to get back into game shape. I'm sure he's probably been skating, but when you're out for that long, it takes a while to get back up to speed. Oilers are obviously betting on him being an instant goal scoring machine as soon as they insert him back into the lineup.

He should just convert his basketball court into a sweatshop to produce socks 24/7. The overhead would be so low...

I don’t think the results are about Kane. It’s more so how vulnerable that team is due to lack of depth on the team and even worse depth options in the AHL. Most teams lose when they lose their McDavids or Draisaitls but good franchises can with stand one major injury to a guy like Kane. But when you have 30 year olds leading your AHL team in scoring and garbage on your bottom 6 forwards you are set up to fail with any injuries. Really they can’t afford any of the following to get hurt
Mcdavid
Draisaitl
Kane
Hyman
Nuge
Yamamoto
Nurse
Ceci
Skinner
It’s sad they can’t with stand injuries to guys on the list as some aren’t even that good

I’m sure he’s been rehabbing the injury a lot at the craps table.

Edmonton Casinos would have to be out of their minds to allow him to gamble there.
Sure, he loses a lot, but he also rarely pays.

They wouldn't give him casino markers but he did ask that his entire semi-monthly salary be paid directly in casino chips, a first for a professional athlete.
