I will just say if a GM was going to make a trade that maybe wasn't the best return for a player they wanted to move, and wanted to avoid the news cycle...then the 4th of July weekend in the U.S. is probably a good time to make that move.
C'mon Pat Verbeek, Kevyn Adams, or Jim Nill...make your bad deal today.

Dream trade I know it will never happen but I think the value is maybe in the realm?
To Stars: Andersson, Coleman (both 50% retained) VGK 1st
To Ducks: Robertson, Pospisil
To Flames: McTavish

Is McTavish worth Ras, Coleman (Retained), Posp and the 1st?

I would do it. 2 aging assets with good value, a likely late 1st and a decent youngish player for a 22 year old top 3 pick coming off a 52pt season. Probably not enough to be honest.

I'd do it without blinking.
I don't understand why Anaheim would trade him

To get a 22 year old 6’1 220lb tank of a center it would be worth it. That is one way to accelerate the rebuild.

Yes but teams learned from that so now you can expect to get a pick with known placement, or something like 2026 protected that shifts to 2027 unprotected at the team's discretion. It doesn't seem like teams often just give up a next year unprotected pick, particularly when you have a McKenna at the top

To me he is!
Ras = 1st (20+), 2nd, B prospect - Low chance of getting a star
Coleman = 1st (20+) or B prospect + 2nd - Very low chance of getting a star
Posp = 2nd + 3rd - Very low chance of getting a star
VGK 1st = 20+ first - Low chance of getting a star
McTavish - Very high chance of getting a star.
The value overall might be a little high, but its definitely a case of quantity for quality. 3 1sts or 2 1sts + 2nd is a lot for McTavish but they are all low firsts for a recent top 3 pick.
On draft day I don't think we would be able to move 20 + 23 + 30 + 2ndx2 for pick #3. We're overstocked on top 9 wingers and losing Coleman & Pospisil will be manageable.

Not directed at you but it’s funny how much ppl would give up for 2nd overall. Yet a lesser package for McTavish is too much.
And if we get McTavish unretire 14 and make him wear it to troll the oilers.

Seems pretty fair. Flames are definitely giving up a lot but it takes an overpay to get young centers like McTavish.
Trying to think of it in the equivalent of the picks the flames could get for those players at the trade deadline:
Andersson (50% retained) = 1st round pick + 2nd round pick + 3rd round pick
Coleman (50% retained) = 2nd round pick
Posposil (50% retained) = 2nd round pick + 3rd round pick
If those estimates on pick value are correct, the flames are giving up the opportunity at the following picks in exchange for McTavish:
1st round pick
1st round pick
2nd round pick
2nd round pick
2nd round pick
3rd round pick
3rd round pick
That is a haul of picks that being given up. I understand that it’s not actually those picks that are being traded but I think it’s reasonable to say those are the picks the flames could have if they didn’t do the trade and just sold those players at the trade deadline this year. It’s the opportunity cost. Not saying it’s a bad trade for the flames to make but you would have to be sure McTavish is gong to be a #1 center.

The problem with trading with the stars is their 1sts in 26 and 28 that were traded are top 10 protected. They probably shouldn't care, but if they trade their 1st in 27, the 26 1st loses it's protection.
Ras, Coleman 50% RS
for
Bischel, Bourque and unprotected 1st in 27.
I think we can get more elsewhere, and they probably need to dump Dumba first as if we take him back, we can't trade him with RS as all 3 slots are used.

Maybe if we can trade Vegas 1st with protection? Not sure if we can top 10 protect another team's 1st without offering up our first if the pick is retained. Too risky.
I think Anaheim should give the Stars a 2nd and it might even out here. Robertson vs McTavish is pretty even IMO. Flames keep Vegas 1st.
To Stars: Andersson, Coleman (both 50% retained)
To Ducks: Robertson, Pospisil, 2nd Ana 2027
