Good thing about Berrios is despite his middling overall numbers he’s focused his bad numbers in like 5-6 starts. I think I read he has like a 20 era in his bad starts. So if you’re going to suck might as well just focus the suckage. Rest of time he’s pretty good.

Prospects flame out regularly. Often their value peaks long before they hit the majors and sometimes it’s best to capitalize on the opportunity when you know they are likely at that peak.

Despite a not so spectacular season for Berríos (it’s been decent), it was still a win.
I think that’s fair. Especially in baseball. And I’m not looking at it in hindsight they made the wrong move, it was moreso from putting their foot down and saying “we strongly believe, and so do many publications, these prospects are elite. We’re not dealing two of them”. And the team may move on and trade with another team but I don’t see other teams dealing high end capital as much as we are. That’s what I’m seeing. Again, I do like our managements eye for talent. But I do think we should be more astute with these deals and maybe getting other teams to bite on lower level prospects. Keep the elite prospects for elite level guys.

Remember Robbie Ray was a trade deadline acquisition as well.

The Tellez for Richards one is definitely one that I wonder about a bit. Though there isn't a spot for for Rowdy on the Jays line up, and Richards was excellent for the Jays last year, Tellez was a lefty bat with some pop. But it also really worked out for Rowdy, who sounds like a great guy, and is NOW a full time MLB first baseman.

I would be comfortable dealing Moreno for something top end. The Jays still need arms.

I think we are going to make a push for Carlos Rodon.

I guess we'll never know what other teams think, but looking at Groshans minor league stats - if he wasn't picked 12th overall or whatever - he'd not be a top prospect.

The only place he hasn't been a slap hitter was New Hampshire which is known to be very kind to right hand hitters.

I always remember the Phillies hesitation to part with Kyle Drabek, and that it cost them one run with Roy Halladay in his prime. If you can land a legit top tier player and it's not your top prospect. Make the deal.

Hands down the worst of Alex's many many trades. Honorable mention to the Dickey trade.

Really solid trade.

Bass has an elite slider now and has been K-ing more guys lately and is on a tear. Pop looks to have some upside, velocity and is already contributing.

Groshans was pretty much cratering in AAA this season.

At minimum it should hopefully work out better than last year's Brad Hand trade.

Yeah... I really didn't like the Dickey Trade. Gave up a lot of prospect capital to get a old guy with a trick pitch (I do love a knuckleball thou from a 'fun' perspective) and no real track record of elite outcomes. Plus it annoyed me that it was Syndergaard who went. AA was clearly in love with Sanchez as a prospect and you don't fall in love with your prospects 'cause prospects will break your heart.

Speaking of Sanchez... just looking at his line and some reports I get Sanchez vibes from Pop...."Real good velocity and movement but somehow doesn't strike guys out" vibe.

Just read an article from after the Jays released Hand after a month and they were hoping for a return to health from Nate Pearson and Julien Merryweather to fix the bullpen. The more things change...

I've been busy with F1 and some work.

The Bass trade sounds like a solid trade.

Idiot did this last year and the injury lingered and made him an ineffective batter. Hopefully Schnieds is a bit more forceful than Charlie and doesn't let Springer come back prematurely. The number of starts and at bats he was given after this clearly flared up is a bit concerning. Wont heal if you're still starting every 2nd/3rd game
