Oof that was a bad AB by Schneider. Watched two centre cut fastballs and then swung at garbage off the plate.

Jays would be better off with Pete Walker coming out of retirement to pitch than Bowden Francis.
Or bring Jeff Francis out of retirement to pitch here.

He's 24 already (drafted as a 5th year senior out of Vanderbilt... was at Duke the first 4 years). It's fine, old man Turner wasn't going to get much from anyone.
Frankly what I'd really like is if they could just get rid of everyone Atkins has brought in over the last few years (I might make an exception for Varsho provided that he becomes the starting centerfielder... no more of this light-hitting corner outfielder nonsense). Then fire Atkins.
|
Why?
Atkins had made some mistakes. But pieces like Gausman, Bassit, IKF, Berrios, have all been perfectly fine acquisitions, even add Varsho to that list too even though I didn't love the price he paid.
His depth acquisitions have been fine, he hasn't been able to add the additional star this teams needs.

Ray, Gausman , Kikuchi
Jays problem is they can’t develop a player to save their lives in the last 5 years

So Twitter seems to think the Jays getting a Bloss and Loperfido is a steal.
They thought one would be an overpayment, let alone both.

It's a great deal for a pure rental. You have to seriously think about trading Bassitt if this is the market for starting pitchers. is

Will Wagner, one of the prospects acquired by Blue Jays, turns 26 today. He's a left-handed hitting 1B/2B who's hitting .307/.424/.429 with 5 HR in 70 games at triple-A this season. More walks than strikeouts. An 18th round pick in 2021, he's the son of Astros icon Billy Wagner.

Pearson gave up a homerun and hit a batter in the head, leading to an ejection, in his first appearance with the Cubs. Yikes.

Good return for the Jays. Watched Loperfido all season, has made some great defensive plays. He’s a decent hitter but his propensity to strikeout is a big issue which could sewer his major league career if he can’t get that under control.
Bliss has looked bad in the majors but the way he rocketed up the Astros system is a big tell on how highly they think of him. And the Astros know talent.
As an Astros fan guess I’m ok with his, since they had to get a starter. But seems a little steep.

If they got that return without sending some cash for the rest of his contract, that is amazing. They are getting pretty close to being under the CBT. Just a couple of moves away from some financial flexibility for next season.
