Went to the game last night with some friends. Was surprisingly exciting considering so few runs. Place blew up when Vladdy blasted his homer! Romano makes me nervous this year...

Agreed about Romano. He rarely has a clean inning these days and he gives up so much hard contact. He was bailed out yesterday by a great play from Espinal. Which has also been a theme of recent Romano appearances. Great D to save the day. I wish he would command the strike zone better and get that swing and miss swagger back.
Romano doesn’t really pitch well on too much rest, not enough rest, and when it isn’t a save situation. They definitely should be bringing in another back of the bullpen guy but not necessary to replace Romano but, if the opportunity comes up to replace him, it wouldn’t be a bad idea.
By almost every trackable stat, Romano is one of the top closers in MLB... but I too feel like he gets tagged hard way too often and has a habit of losing the strike zone. It's a strange thing to try and wrap my brain around the eye test and raw numbers telling very different stories.

They showed his hard hit rate has dropped 10% from last year , but I swear it feels like it’s 10% higher !
I also am perplexed by the stats vs eye test
Yep. It feels like he's awful, and constantly blowing saves or making games close when they shouldn't be.... but then the numbers are like "lol, no, idiot."
We ended up getting a room with the stadium view at the Marriott on Thursday night against the Giants. What an unreal experience! We have a three and a five year old, so they were totally stoked about the whole thing and it was great for them to be able to have some space as we watched the game from the room. The game got most of the excitement out in the first inning, so that was pretty funny. I think that is the first game I’ve been to that the Jays actually one in 3 or 4 tries, so that was nice too.
