What is Buffalo looking for? Having added Byram, with Power and Dahlin already in the mix, their D seems to have the pieces in place. Would it be Necas they're dangling that for?

Another pick in our range is drool-worthy, I'm just not sure we have the right asset mix for the teams looking to deal.

Guys on Barn Burner seem to think that 10 for Markstrom and maybe Mang should be enticing enough for NJD.

IMO, for NJ to accept I think it'd need to be something like:

To NJ:
Markstrom @ 50% (2yrs left)
Mangiapane @ 50% (1yr left)
28th overall in '24

To CGY:
10th overall in '24

Trade Andersson to Buffalo for the 11th pick.

Trade Markstrom to NJ for the 10th pick.

Draft 9, 10, and 11th.

If we are retaining salary on 2 players, and 1 for 2 years we absolutely are not adding a pick with that.

I would think Jersey has to throw something else in to make that trade even. Probably Holtz, who we can reroute for more picks.

It depends on how much they really believe in Markstrom

If they believe he is the guy then it’s not a heavy price to pay, considering their core is already there.

NJ is probably the only team that will pay that price until the TDL

Our Hanifin/Tanev retention spots don't open up until July 1 I believe.

So not in time to retain on 2 guys at the draft. It would be pretty crazy if NJ drafts Iginla only to trade him to us 3 days later when we have more spots.

Markstrom 50 percent retained, 2024 3nd round pick for 10 O.A Draft a FW and a D consecutively and it's a win win day.

That is a huge overpay. 50% of Markstrom salary is worth a late first round pick (29th). 50% of Mangipange is worth a mid 2nd. Just the pick and retention is enough to move to 10. The players have value, and it isn't being considered in this.
