Of course the second I vent my frustrations they score 3 runs and get within 1.

JD Martinez with a 2 strike wall scraper to extend the lead. And now Renfroe with a bomb to put this game out of reach. 5 homeruns for Boston.

Just losing the games that matter most at an alarming rate.

Incredible how many home runs the Sox hit.

Two steps forward two steps back!

9-15 against the Red Sox and Rays. (.375)

39-29 against everyone else. (.573)

This team isn't ready yet.

Sox seem to always make those comebacks and Jays rarely do. Shame Romano had a bad game but it will be good to get out of Buffalo. Place is a bandbox and the crowd has hardly been supportive. Next time the Jays are home they’ll have a real crowd. Hopefully that will make a difference. Just would be nice if the Jays would ever come through in close situations, pitching or batting. I think at this point it’s just wild card and I wonder how much the Jays will invest in trades for that.

The Blue Jays prospect content that keeps up engaged and hopeful:

https://theathletic.com/2720747/2021...idseason-list/

4 Blue Jays in Keith Laws top 50:

5(!!!!!) - Gabriel Moreno
12 - Austin Martin
19 - Nate Pearson
40 - Orelvis Martinez

Players I anticipate will be in the 51-100 list:

Groshans; is starting to put up some solid numbers in AA after missing a lot of time due to an injury and also the pandemic wiping out an entire season.

Samad Taylor: Putting up some impressive numbers in AA as well. .929 OPS, 12 HR, which puts him in the top 10 of both categories in AA Northeast.

Kevin Smith: A former top 100 guy coming out of high A ball who had a really rough year in 2019 in AA putting up very pedestrian numbers, now in AAA putting up very good numbers while playing a premium position. Could be a great bench player for the Jays, or a trade chip in the upcoming trade deadline.

Guys who might drop out of the top 100:

Simeon Woods Richardson - Was riding an incredible hot streak, then June 26th happened and he started walking a ton of batters. He is still only 20 (Average age in AA is 24), and will hopefully figure it out because there is a lot to like about SWR still.

Quote:
Orelvis Martinez, Low-A Dunedin (Blue Jays) — The Florida sun during the dregs of summer produces an extraordinary amount of heat, but it simply cannot compare with Orelvis Martinez's recent run at the plate. The precocious Blue Jays prospect added two more home runs on Wednesday, turning what had been an excellent month into something truly absurd. So far this month, Martinez has hit .400/.494/1.015 with 11 home runs over 17 games. He's been especially molten over the last seven games, when he's gone 16-for-31 with four doubles, eight homers and 18 RBIs.
Just a little context: Martinez is the youngest player on his team, at 19 years old.

Sounds like the Rays are about to trade for Nelson Cruz

Yep! For their 10th and 17th prospect.

Comparable for Jays would be Otto Lopez and Riley Adams according to MLB.coms top 30

Yeah, they can have him then. Not a huge price, but I still wouldnt want the Jays to do that for a rental given their place in the standings.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the Rays 10th and 17th prospects are probably better than the Jays 10th and 17th prospects. While the Jays farm is strong, the Rays have the best farm system in MLB by a country mile.

I agree. It’s a tough position for the Jays to be in. They are treading water in third place with no real indication that they’re poised to make a run for the division, you can’t really expend assets in their position and also at the outset of their theoretical competitive window.

Maybe more like Kloffenstein and Dasan Brown then. Either way like you said, a rental DH, that’s a pretty high price to pay for the Jays.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Yanks passed us and we're in 4th place now haha

4.5 games back of the 2nd wild card which is currently held by the A's and the Yanks and Seattle are ahead of us.

The Yankees are inexplicably rolling right now. Which is irritating. Yet I still find myself cheering for them over the Red Sox because that team of pretenders needs to #### off.

And seriously what's with Seattle???

C'mon Jays you're better than these teams.

Boston just did to the Yankees what they do to everyone else. Just incredible how much they score in late innings.

Right?!? and the way they score runs too. A 2 out 2 run double to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th. And then to be gifted 2 runs in the bottom of the 10th on the back of 4 wild pitches. Just ridiculous. Gotta be good to be lucky or lucky to be good. Or something along those lines...
