Packaging the #1 overall with Hank's full 7 million over 2 seasons, and still bring in a decent return. I think that they would explore a lot of other options before it came to this, but it was definitely an interesting suggestion.
Johnny Gaudreau + 19th overall for the #1 overall (Laff) and Lundqvist to back up Rittich for two years. The money works.

There's no way the Rangers do that.

If Gaudreau to the Rangers is a thing despite them winning Laf, then go get Nils Lundkvist please and thank you.
Gaudreau, Kylington for Buchnevich, Nils Lundkvist, 23rd overall?

I love it when crazy things like that come out of the home state of the team though. I agree that there is no way that happens, but it suggests that there is enough will to move that contract that they would do something less extreme.
Hank Lunqvist, Lias Andersson and Vitali Kravtsov for Johnny straight up, I would also do. I think that Hank would be a capable backup for two years, and a high end RW on a expansion exempt ELC (and a wild card LW) would balance out the salaries.

Wut?
I would rage quit hockey fandom if the Flames did that.
Lias Andersson is a turd. He's got a bottom 6 ceiling. Kravstov has been very underwhelming and Hank is 38 and carries an $8.5 million cap hit next year. Yikes man haha

If I were Treliving I'd do that in a heartbeat. Hell, I'd even throw in a 2020 2nd.
The only problem is that you can't then sign Hall unless you think Valimaki is ready for the top 4 and you let Brodie walk.

More like you need two or three Meiers to have a chance at a Johnny.

Sign me up. But the Rags don't pass on a first overall for Johnny, even to unload Hank. I think they'd be quite content to keep Laf for a decade and have Hank mentor their young goalies for a couple more years.

I guess people can’t say Flames fans are overvaluing there players. This really does show how sour everyone is on this current team.

I think as a fan base we’ve just been so bombarded with crap trades for our core players we’ve come to expect them.

Player wise I'd agree Gaudreau has more value. I'm soured on his playoff performance two years in a row so maybe that's my own issue.
I do however believe there is a big issue with Gaudreau in the fact that he is a UFA in 2 years. Meier is cost controlled for longer and is 3 years younger...Gaudreau could bolt in 2 years. Maybe I'm wrong and this isn't that big a deal...but if I'm trading for Gaudreau I'd be concerned.
So I think that significantly affects trade value, unless there is a condition related to an extension which solves that piece.

Heard today that Max Domi took the Canadiens off of all his social media platforms (not sure if true). Also heard that Pittsburgh is heavily in on him.

It just says "MTL" on both his Insta and Twitter. Not sure if that's new or old or whatever.
Domi would be a cool get because we could lock him long term on a solid value contract. He's also a dip!@#$ on the ice and ultra competitive. Good traits.

I put Ryan Merkley into Kevin Kurz’s formula. The Gaudreau for Meier + 1st + Merkley idea is basically a Sharks writer’s idea. I think this just goes to show how Gaudreau is viewed outside the market.

I'd be happy with the Domi return, if it's Domi, Poehling, 1st and 2nd.
