Let there be no doubt that the delays are a function of this.
The well of public money is dry and they'll wait until it starts to fill before announcing an arena.
They might wait a long time...

Almost 4,000 posts in, and yet we still don't even know when it's going to be announced (nevermind all the fights that happen after it is). That has to a record for longest thread that was essentially about nothing. At least the rumour/speculation thread sometimes comes true.

It is possible that when they said they would present the plan to the city in a couple of weeks more then a couple of weeks ago, they did and the city said nope. Now the Flames will try the province.

TFW's are for labour shortages. There's no labour shortage when there's unemployed ironworkers outside your construction site.
It's a dick move and you know it. Other people doing it doesn't make it less of a dick move.

Plus, TFWs are supposed to be paid a competitive wage and only hired when there is literally no one else willing to do the job. Hiring TFWs to save money is actually contrary to the whole purpose of the program.

This might be blown out of proportion.
They were approved to hire 20, they hired 6. They have job postings for more Canadian workers.
They were all hired back in October, on a one year contract. Yes, the economy has changed, but there is still work on the same project, and they are honoring the contract for those 6.
They also said that these 6 bring an expertise to arena building. This set off my bull alarm a little bit I must admit, but it could be true.
Service Canada is already involved as well, monitoring the situation.

Green text, or are you implying Katz works for HR hiring iron workers for a contractor?

Me too, but I gotta agree with the other posters, the lack of urinals is a major problem.

The last few times I have been to the Dome it has been really frustrating having the concourse so packed you can barely get passed people and also the lack of washrooms is terrible. So many people just cut in line as well which is frustrating. After being in a couple other barns I realized how bad the Dome is. Prior to going to California my only comparison was Rexall which is a terrible rink

^ This!
Been to a few barns of the last few years, and the 'Dome concourse is utter garbage compared to the rinks bult even in the early-mid 90's.

It would defiantly help if they removed the gd vehicles from the concourse.
