Not that close. Why does he have Russia? Does he think Russia (35) can beat (18) Sweden?

Pot 3 or 4 makes a little difference but I'm not sure how big the difference truly is.
Big thing is avoid Netherlands and Germany in pot 2, and pray you get into Qatar's pot from pot 1.

Make it a beaver. and when we win our multiple World Cups we can use maple leaves instead of stars above the logo.

Yeah the Swiss logo isn’t great, but their flag is a big plus.

I thought Vancouver was done & done?
From what I understood, when FIFA made their visit, host cities had to basically declare. Vancouver didn't so now only Toronto and Edmonton are in the running to host.

Canada and Mexico only get to host 10 matches each in 2026, I think 2 venues (Toronto and Edmonton) are more than adequate. My guess will be each city getting 3 group games, 1 round of 32, and 1 round of 16 matches.
So Vancouver will not be needed / considered by FIFA...

I'm sure for 2026 the CSA will spend over a year of time, enjoy getting wooed and patted on the back by international brand marketers, and thus spend multimillions of newly found WC money to rebrand. The result will be something that will try way too hard, be pretty generic, and look dated a lot sooner than the current logo.
I this one is fine, considering how old it is, and it's still pretty simple but recognizeable.

What would the pitch situation be? I'm guessing WC is still grass only? Commonwealth used to renowned for a world class natural grass pitch, can they do that again on a temp basis? Can BC place grow decent grass? My knowledge is a little dated on the current state of both those stadiums. Commonwealth's pitch looked awful for the qualifier though. I imagine if it was packed for a Canadian WC game, it would be ok? I don't know that they draw many fans for non Canadian, c vs d type games. They need to get rid of the track too.

Host cities first had to apply to the CSA. BC was near an election time so Horgan didn't want to be spending money for a time 8 years later and, BC Govt may have dropped the ball itself by not applying in time.
Horgan at the time then said it was too much of an unknown for costs, so BC was out...whether that was him covering for a potential administrative error in not applying or not, he was pretty firm in saying BC wasn't interested.
Vancouver's mayor at the time (2018) didn't like that answer.
Funny how the hype train of this WCQ campaign changes everything.

BC Place as a venue is 100x better then Commenwealth, which is basically a bigger McMahon, with same basic amenities where you are further from the play thanks to the track areat they never truly dealt with...they took it out physically but the space it occupied and the areas behind the nets used for field events, is still there and just a waste.
No parking, dumpy part of town (relatively speaking for Edmonton) and it's just not the city Vancouver is. Area around BC place is great, walk from any hotel downtown, CanadaLine if you're just flying in for a day. It's a no brainer, and a 1h flight to go to a WC game is also a no brainer for us in Calgary. I could be in BC Place in 4h, an hourish later then driving up to Commenwealth (assuming I could find nearby parking).
Regardless, FIFA set prices for tickets for any game, let alone Canada games, will be eye watering to say the least (the CBC will be inundated with sob stories about how it's unfair and prevents growth of the game in Canada and why won't anyone think of the children), nevermind the resale market.

Decent seats, group matches are about $200 and get increasing more expensive to the final which is about $700. But you can get packages by city or by group or by country whatever.
In 1994, I went to the 6 games in Dallas, Cotton Bowl, for less than $300. But that seems like ages ago.
