The great thing about Vancouver winning is that it increases the probability of riots. That seems negative on the surface and it would be in normal times.
However, we must remember that the increased costs of riot preparations and insurable riot repairs all add to GDP and create jobs. It increases public sector income for police, paramedics and street cleaners. It creates jobs in security. And it creates lots of jobs for the trades and building material manufactures. In the midst of a deep recession and severe house price declines that must weigh greatly on the psyche of the Greater Vancouver Area, the boon in economic activity from riots would be a much needed green-shoot.
Onwards Canucks!!!

MoneyPuck has the Canucks at only 36.5% to win today. But they have the Canucks at 50.3% to win game 7.

Said it before and I'm saying it again.
Game 7 preferably in OT so one of these fanbases tastes the biggest soul crushing pain.
The other gets hammerfisted in round 3.
F the Oilers. F the Canucks.

Likely because the Oilers are at home where they often get favourable reffing. 'Nucks will have to fight through a lot to get this done tonight. The league will be pushing hard to rescue the Oilers from elimination.

That's part of it but also we don't know the goalies for Game 7 yet.
From MoneyPuck:
Quote:
MoneyPuck has a bot that scans Twitter for announcements about starting goalies. Once a starting goalie is announced, game odds are adjusted based on the goalie. The goalie's goals saved above expected per 60 compared to the other goalies on the team is the main factor in how the odds are changed. Also, if a goalie has very few previous games played in the season, his teams odds are likely to drop even if he has an above average goals saved above expected. You can see the impact of starting goalies by viewing the graph on our game preview pages of game odds over time. Sometimes two bad or two good goalies will cancel each other out and the odds will remain the same.

I don't feel super confident about tonight but I'm still feeling decent about Game 7 if it's necessary. The way the refereeing has gone--especially a couple of the ridiculous calls last game, it seems like the Canucks penalty killers are having a lot asked of them hold off the only facet of Oilers offence that the greasers are actually good at. A lot of it hinges on the goaltending--Skinner could actually bounce back tonight but that doesn't mean he won't suck in Game 7. Plus I think Demko might be back if it went long.
Do we know who's going in for Perry? Is Henrique coming back in?
If it ends tonight, I'll toast with my Canuck rivals like the western Allies did with the Soviet army when they finished off their common enemy. But the cold war will return very quickly.

It's immediately an Oilers home broadcast. 5 minutes in and everything is from the Oilers perspective.

And to continue the war analogy... Will we welcome back those who collaborated with our mortal enemy during this series when it's over?

Hrudey proclaiming an Oilers win already and everyone should just book their flights back to Vancouver. Embarrassing Commentary.

Canucks just need to survive the first 5 minutes or so, and not take any early penalties.
Just one McPP goal could give them all kinds of momentum.

ESPN is on the ball talking about how ineffective McDavid has been in the last three games.

Do these media guys really think that all of Alberta is cheering for these losers? I will never cheer for a charity case hockey team like the oilers. Anyone else cheer for lottery winning millionaires? Not me. I cheer for teams and people who deserve a bit of luck, not asshats like this.
