I think the culture there is what we saw when Pissy lost his temper on the media. Its a coddled bunch who doesn’t like to be challenged.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Woodcroft hasn’t read between lines he is there to tell the stars to go over the boards when they want to.
I am sure the stars there don’t realize teams like Tampa Bay don’t do the same thing.

I was going to ask how that's possible with Hyman scoring 2 goals with Draisatl assists, but of course, they were PP goals.

The delusion is strong in all the Coilers fans. Here's one from HF boards/post game thread, grumbling about last night. Without game management by the refs, the Coilers wouldn't have even been as close as they were, but they feel that the AVS were the ones getting game management! They just have absolutely no clue!

Lol @ Woodcroft's comments. They had a 2-0 lead going into the 3rd and still ended up losing 3-2 because they got their heads caved in 5 on 5 (both Avs goals in the 3rd were even strength). And yet he "liked much about their game"? What an absolute clown.

I think he does, just not in public. I mean it's not possible that any NHL coach would think this kind of effort is acceptable and that the Oilers are playing good rn, right? ..... Right?

They're going to go on a 6 or 7 game slide, put Woodcroft back on the farm and replaced him with glue gun. The team will rally around gulutzan until they realize that they never even really liked the guy... Not enough to pretend they care about winning anyhow.

Their poor depth just goes back to their poor drafting and development.
Outside of Skinner, which of their young NHL players / prospects can even the most delusional oiler fan get excited about?
On forward, you have the likes of Yamamoto, Puljavrvji, McCleod, Holloway, Kostin. They are NHL players, but they don’t drive play. Maybe one of them becomes a legit top 6 player, but I don’t see it happening.
On defence, you have Broberg and Bouchard. Broberg doesn’t have the mobility / first pass ability that you’d want in a top 4 dman. Bouchard is a tire fire defensively. Even oilers fans have turned on him. They are both young, but I’m not getting high end dman vibes from either.
And down to the prospect system, I don’t see any intriguing players. Is Bourgault their top prospect? (If you count Broberg and Holloway as graduated) A 20 year old putting up 15 points in the 30 games in the AHL this year. That’s not nothing, but it’s hard to get excited about.
The Oilers should be making win now trades. But that is a depressing reality as well with Holland at the helm.
Oh well lol

You would think. Then again, he publicly implied a two time stanley cup champion head coach tells his players to shoot from everywhere simply to boost their shot metrics. If only Darryl understood the game like Jay does…

Bouchard really makes me laugh. He was made into a "top" player strictly because of the fanboy media. He was a fringe NHL prospect with terrible skating and hockey IQ. Somehow he got talked about as being a premier offensive defenseman with a canon of a shot. Hence the dumbest catchphrase in sports with the Bouche-bomb. Even though his shot is awfully muffin like topping out in the mid 80's in velocity. It reminds me of Phaneuf back in the day when everyone thought he had a rocket of a shot. Then he entered the All-Star hardest shot competition and he was hitting 85mph. He was just so wild with his shot that it appeared heavy. Bouchard with a huge regression in offensive numbers, thanks to being demoted from the PP, and just awful defensive metrics is just his career leveling out.
