The bottom 3 forwards cannot generate much offense. That's a cause for concern, and it goes beyond the fact that Stajan is done as an NHL level player.

That said, it's going to be tough to do anything about that, so hopefully the bottom 6 can find a way to be better.

Because our bottom 6 suck. I'm going to get roasted for this, but i think our 3rd line is "meh" at best. Jagr is a smart player, but he looks like he wont make it through the season. Bennett looks better on wing, but that's not saying much. If he wasn't drafted 4th overall he would be in the pressbox or clear waivers. The only player that i really like of the 3rd line is Janko.

Our 4th line can't score goals at all. Brouwer is paid far to much for 4th line and I'm not convinced Lazar is even an every day NHL player. Stajan is done.

Since when are fourth lines supposed to provide offence? Brodie is having defensive struggles...he is also 4 points off the league lead in points...don't make anstupid trade please...Kane? Lol

A guy like Carl Hagelin or Paul Byron could do wonders for team speed and hopefully help the penalty kill. A guy like Andrew Shaw could improve that fourth line's cycle game compared to Brouwer.

Also Stajan's had a rough season and while I don't personally believe he is done, his and Lazar's level of play haven't inspired confidence the way a 4C like Marcus Kruger or Matt Cullen should.

I dunno what happens but havig the fourth line be dependable instead of where you throw the suck would be nice. I really liked Ferland - Stajan - Chiasson as a fourh line last year, but obviously Ferland belongs higher up the lineup and Stajan can't carry two anchors at this point.

I don't have a problem with our top 3 lines at the moment, but the 4th line could be stronger.

I agree, a center like Cullen or Kruger would be nice.

Versteeg-someone-Lazar/Brouwer would have me more confident. That someone could also be a useful penalty killer. Add a guy, send Freddie down, Stajan can spend time in the press box

I think we could use more speed in the line-up as mentioned. A byron/hagelin/wood type forward would be useful

I can see the appeal from buffalo's side of having a O'Reilly, eichel, Backlund middle. That is contender status 2way depth, and would move salary like Kane or Reinhart (paid eventually) to get it.

Hathaway would look good on the 4th line.

I think Brouwer 2.5 million retained for Hagelin 2 million retained would be a trade that could work between the Pens and Flames. Hagelin has fallen out of favor but is still fast, while Brouwer can help Reaves facepunch

The odd retention is to minimize the effect of Brouwer’s large cap hit in the extra year on his deal. It’s cheaper than a buyout for the Flames and it ends the cap commitment earlier.

Plus I think Hagelin could find his game here, he’d fit well on any line.

Helping Reeves face punch as the primary motive to do this deal seems like a streatch for the Pens.

Trading Sundqvist (the second best prospect center in the AHL last year after Mark Jankowski) and a 1st for Reeves and a 2nd seemed like a massive stretch for the Pens, but it happened....

I would love for Treliving to be able to move Brouwer or Stajan for Byron.

Habs are going to be desperate to make a move sooner than later.

But why? Why would the Habs do this? I can't think of one reason.

How does that make any sense for the Habs?

That's a rhetorical question by the way, you don't actually have to answer it.

I think of Darryl Sutter in 2010 who was desperate to shake his team up moving Jokinen an Prust for Higgins and Kotalik(who was healthy scratched for 9 games prior to the trade). Not only that Kotalik had 2 years left on his deal at $3M per.

Bergevin is a desperate GM and needs to shake his team up. He comes to the Habs via the Blackhawks organization so he would be familiar with Brouwer. Bergevin has made several questionable trades and signings recently so wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility he does it again?

There is my justification for such a ridiculous trade
