Does anyone know what actor has been playing Melania Trump on Colbert's show?

It's a roast, and it was one of the memorable moments of the campaign. There's plenty to attack trump on even in that roast but I don't think that joke is one of them.

I thought Trump was hilarious. The only time I think he really went overboard was the hating Catholics remarks.

If THAT Trump ran instead of insane Trump, he'd probably be winning.

You're right in that the Melania joke was one of about three really good lines he had last night.

But he quickly went too far and lost the room. Getting booed at a dinner that is supposed to be a light-hearted roast just shows he has a tin ear for these sorts of things. I actually don't blame him anymore... I just don't think he's very good at this.

Mind you, Clinton was also chippier than is customary, but she managed to walk the line a bit better.

I doubt either of them wrote their own jokes though... so maybe this is Steve Bannon's fault? Either way last night was a minor embarrassment that just gets added to the pile for a campaign that is truly flailing at this point.

The thing with a roast is that the people getting nailed have chosen to be in the public eye. They have set themselves up for it, it comes with the territory. She is mostly a bystander in this. Let me ask you this. Would you have attacked your wife in front of the nation for a laugh? No way I would. Even "just in good fun". Trump had plenty of material to work with, no need to go there. Hell, he could have spent 15 nailing Chris Christie to the wall. That would have been funny.

Their roasts seemed pretty much equivalent to me. The audience seemed more friendly to Hillary, and she seemed to have practiced her jokes more, but in terms of quality of humor they were pretty much equivalently mediocre.

I'm not sure why people get so into "campaigning failures" and "Hilary playing things perfectly/killing it at debates".

These are just symptoms of a severe candidate mismatch. How Hilary destroyed or Trump failed at a debate makes for a necessary article from the media, but for the observers we know what Donald Trump is, we know what he does, we know he's not fit to be president, we know he wasn't going to campaign properly and we know he can't statistically win this election.

I would agree. At first I thought Trump was being way to harsh, but Hillary returned the favor.

It is telling Trump's best joke was about his wife

He is still polling higher than he should which is depressing. Everyone should just be thankful he is as terrible as he is because a slightly better Trump would probably win.

Trying to be unbiased, but I thought Clinton was better. The ones they call "bad" and "worse" for her were at least not offensive, just not that funny. Trump came off as way more bitter and aggressive.

Maybe I just can't get past my dislike for Trump though.
