I love that four seasons landscaping thing. To the point that a friend and I texted about it on the anniversary last week. It’s hands down the funniest thing I’ve seen in politics. Them hiring the wrong Dr. Joffe would be amazing, but it’s a landscaping company sandwiched between a funeral home and sex toy shop!

Hiring the wrong Dr. Joffre would be amazing, I'm going to believe it's true because it just makes me smile. Obviously it's not very likely, but I want to believe it..
I could see her hiring a well respected reasonable doctor until she wins the election, then replacing him since they are using the "interim" title.

All she has to deal with is the ignominy of being fired, albeit she was fired by an unelected lunatic so that ought to soften the blow significantly.
Its as close to 'Riding off into the Sunset' as Public Work gets.

Getting fired by Smith might become a badge of honour.

Its not all doom and gloom though, i read a few articles about jaffe and he seems like he's got a solid head on his shoulders.
Being appointed by a nutjob like smith however does cast some doubt, but he has a long and illustrious resume of working for some fairly top notch endeavours. Time will tell i suppose.

While it is funny to muse they hired the wrong one, the press release certainly indicates they got the right one:
https://www.alberta.ca/release.cfm?x...F7DCB869438E37
But it is temporary, probably until after the election when she can quietly swap in the other Dr Joffe. Won't even need to change the name on the door.

Yeah it says "interim appointment" which I read as "we need someone non-controversial until the election."

I believe in the Jays.

By firing Hinshaw are they saying that she had the power to implement all the rules? Or that was was able to dupe the UCP decision makers into doing what she wanted?

She told her supporters she would fire her(anti-vaxers despise her) so that's what she did. This is solely because Danielle Smith rejects reality, like all good leaders.

No way Smith actually lets the scheduled election happen next year with those numbers, she'll delay as long as possible

I'm not being snarky with this, but I think they are learning its harder to govern than it is to campaign than it is to be a talk show host....

My first thought would be to watch if anyone is fired or moved out of the ministry. They wouldn’t overtly fire Joffe and they can’t appoint another Joffe so I’m terms of making sure this doesn’t happen again you would want to get to the person responsible.
Then after and appropriate search you would appoint someone. If this person is in the same anti vax anti restriction world then you know it was a #### up

I'm hoping that they are out of office before the Alberta Pension Plan, Alberta Revenue Agency and Alberta Police Force become something that can't be walked back.

So torn though…getting rid of CRA has to be a positive? Not in terms of the firewall and that garbage. Just in terms of the bureaucracy and stupidity of the system. Having the ~90% of people file tax returns to match them with the tax slips the government already has and come to the same conclusion they already know. It’s entirely stupid.
