Gaudreau is a better playoff performer than Ovi so why would you use that in your argument? You are going to trade a young star LW for a selfish player on the decline who costs way more? Crazy.

I never said that the trade was a good idea, I thought it was pretty clear that the trade makes no sense.

How is Gaudreau better than Ovi in the playoffs? Certainly not by any measurable stat.

That being said, it would be ridiculously stupid to trade him for Ovi. Ovi will either finish his contract as a Cap or retire and head to Russia eventually.

I agree that there could be some potential left, but at 25 it's likely not much.

I would also question what was Ferlands general pace. He started hot, but had just 1 point in the last 10 games. Overall the sample size is too small to IMO say it proved much anything.

Please god no. I wouldn't take Ovechkin on this team if Washington was willing to take back Brouwer, Stajan and Bouma.

He is a great goal scorer, but that's all he is. He is more interested in scoring goals than winning games. Any team Ovechkin plays on will not win the Cup.
