Classic example last night of the truism, " more games are won in the first period than the third".
Pens were ready at the start. Oilers weren't.
By the time the Oilers woke up they were lucky to be down only 2-0.
True, but counter argument: the Flames when they don't score first. Also, the Pens won.
Oiler fans are seriously complaining about an apparent trip against McDavid in OT last night, despite the perpetrator being a bloody goaltender and McDavid being 2 feet deep in his crease.

Just an absolutely embarrassing fan base.
How much did they excuse McDavid's own goal? Imagine if Johnny did that here. Imagine if it was Wideman.
A) why doesn't Edmonton just make mcdavid their flag?
B) that broadcast was terrible. Even when mcdavid was off the ice they would just talk about him. I wonder if they asked Crosby how special it was for him to play against mcdavid...

The sad thing is Oiler fans don't think Drew Remenda is pro-Oiler enough
A real highlight for me was when The Tenderness got absolutely robbed by MAF in OT with a desperation leg kick right pad save. This may have been one of the saves of the year but it didn't even register on Quinn's radar because he was so verklempt that his team didn't win the game on that chance. Remenda couldn't even contain his shock when MAF stopped that, he then regained his composure and carried on as if nothing had happened. It was largely the most homerific thing I have seen in a long time.

Just wait until the playoffs, when teams do a systematic abuse of McDavid so that the Oilers are forced to take penalties.
If they think life is soooooo unfair to the chosen one, what's going to happen when teams don't let him take it through the neutral zone, and every puck battle includes some kind of nastiness.
I would expect teams will do to him what the Bruins did to the Sedins and the refs don't call that kind of stuff in the playoffs.

Flames need to take the first step in putting them out their mystery tonight.
When you get that insufferable, and take your team as seriously as they have been lately, you should understand why you can't have nice things. Take a healthy dose of humility and chill out.
They played a great game last night and just about every time an Oiler player fell there was a penalty called, it seemed. They had every chance and didn't get it done. Get over it, move on.
I really want to see the Oilers miss the playoffs.
I mean, this season pretty much everything that could go right for them did, Draisait stepped up, McDavid was immense and Talbot has seemed almost unbeatable.
They didnt have any serious injury concerns, they got a sweetheart of a schedule, robbed the Flames of 8 points and accrued a lot of loser-points.
These stars are highly unlikely to all line up again. This is their year.
So if, in 'their year' they still miss the playoffs it would just be so Edmonton.

If you watch the vid again, it's a dive on McDavid's part as well.
