Console screenshots of AC4 - Parity is starting to leak out. I hope they are fake. Really, really fake.
The Vaseline smearing upscaling looks terrible. And what is with the female NPC in the bottom left along with the serrated blade?
Spoiler!
Ya, something's just...off about those pictures. I've been keeping up with the release a bit and have seen a few videos, it never looked like that before. I mean the modelling looks similar I suppose, but I found the colouring to look quite dark and real from what I've seen. In these pictures the colouring looks incredibly washed out, and the graphics look like its from the PS2 days (or earlier). From what I've seen, it doesn't look anything like that.
I'm actually pretty excited for this one, especially since the map is supposedly nearly a 1:1 scale of French Revolution Paris, and many buildings are enterable with fully-developed interiors. Plus the catacombs are there as well. I have no idea if the storyline will suck or not, but free-roaming should be pretty awesome anyway.
Makes sense why shut down their TV/Entertainment studio if this was the quality coming out of it. Was hoping Halo would have been better but I'll still probably give it a look.
Ridley Scott's 'Halo' TV show is off to a very, very bad start
This show was only green-lit because of the Halo name and it will die after this season because if this pilot is any indication it’s not only a bad Halo adaptation, it’s just a bad show.
This show is so bad I'm buying a PS4. (Now that's a troll at the Verge. )
I'm not surprised. I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed.
the special effects were mortifying, dialogue was almost completely pointless, and the overall affect was that this thing wanted to replicate 300 but with random Halo dudes
it was just so cheesey and bizarre and i could barely get thru it
If this is what Microsoft's original programming was going to look like, it's a good thing that Satya Nadella pulled the cord.
Bought a Wii U refurbished about 2 months back. Bought a PS4 about 5 weeks back. And now with all the present and upcoming Xbone games (i.e. Forza, Sunset, Halo), I may have to pick up one of those soon too!

Bad year financially to be a gamer lol.
but you should be set for a while with new games coming all the time
I was at my brother's last night and he got the XB1 COD bundle. I have to say the console itself is cooler than the Sunset OD bundle as the extra HD space is nice and the Xbox makes pretty cool noises when you start it up and shut it down. Controller looks quite slick in person as well.
And yet with all those fancy updates its still an inferior system.
for you? OK. thanks. I hadn't realized that we were declaring winners this early in the race. If you use a PC, you know intuitively that all of the horsepower under the hood is useless if it doesn't do what you want.
I think that we have established after many posts and pages that there are features and exclusive games on all 3 current gen systems that find favour with various people, for various reasons.
Personally, Microsoft needs to do more to advertise all that has been done in the last year. They need to literally change the box packaging to highlight this.
I'm grateful to Sony for all of the improvements that Microsoft has had to make. If the vendors have the same year next year for improvements to each console as they did this year, the feature set on the Xone will blow the PS4 away. And if Sony invests and matches Microsoft, we will have 2 awesome consoles next year. Since I can't see Sony standing idly by, competition helps all of us to win.

Pre-load on the Xbone has been a nightmare. Been downloading halo MCC for 2 days. Had to restart the console...reboot....still at 88%.
In comparison, COD and AC Unity on PS4 preloaded in an hour with zero issues
Just installing games on a Xbox One from a disk can be a pain at times. Took about an hour and a half to install Shadow of Mordor last night and even that stalled out twice and I had to restart the system to get the install moving again.
However if this ends up leading to a good game, Xbox wins next gen.
Another Joystiq editor, playing on PS4, encountered similar bugs. On Xbox One however, these issues were exacerbated by a framerate with less structural integrity than the crumbling roofs of Paris. Whether I ran through the crowded streets or shambled along the rooftops, noticeable drops in framerate almost constantly distracted from the experience.
Assassin's Creed Unity is the best and worst of Assassin's Creed. It's hard not to appreciate everything that it gets right, and you'll have a good time if you can wrangle some friends for co-op, but it's impossible to ignore where Unity falls tragically short.
But then there's optional but questionable stuff like this, a real-money way to obtain the game's optional "hack" currency instead of using the in-game currency you earn by finishing most missions...
This wouldn't be so aggravating if there weren't other treasure chests that could only be opened if you have been using the game's iOS and Android companion app.
Disappointing, I was looking forward to AC Unity. The french revolution setting looked really interesting.

So Black Flag was a spinoff title that everyone assumed would be a quick cash grab and would suck, but was a very nice surprise and one of the best games in the series. And Unity appeared to be the next big traditional game in the series with several major advancements, but it's falling flat. It's obvious that Ubisoft has separate teams working on these games now since it's turned into a yearly franchise, so maybe next year will be the "good" one
