I started in on the first 2 episodes, and I think they’re pretty good so far. I don’t think it is wholly dissimilar from Band of Brothers.

to me, it's about the idea of how folks create their own significance and power to try and understand and interpret the randomness of the universe. creating our own meaning. looking at the show through that lens is what's keeping me around. Is the a so called dark power at work, or is it just, people reacting to trauma. I'm bummed about losing Juliette Lewis, and we'll see how long they can milk the concept, but I'm still willing to stick around

I understand the premise there, but I was interested in the transition to that state. It felt like it went from 3/10 crazy to 11/10 crazy in an instant. In the very first scene in the series, we see the extreme situation the girls will find themselves in. The transition to that state in season 2 felt rushed and not worthwhile. It was the most interesting carrot for me, and to see it handled so poorly has lost my interest.

Surely Beyond the Sea? I don't think it touched the prime of the show (15 Million Merits, White Christmas), but it was the best episode since USS Callister.

I really hope Netflix take this show out the back and shoot it. Charlie Brooker is a genius, but he is out of ideas and it is painful watching this once great premise being distorted and shaped into something so tacky and boring.

We could go on and on but this link pretty well nails why the episode was so bad. By this point all viewers continuing to watch are fully aware of the contrived storyline and accepting of it seeing they are still watching but the ultra-lazy manner they tied things up is simply terrible writing.

Show has hit its stride. I keep wondering how much of the sets are CGI they look terrific. The endless spiral stairs and all the architecture around them looks so believable. Interiors are a unique mix of retro, unknown era decor, and tech.

What's up with the computers? I don't recognize most of the hardware.


There are obvious plot holes, impossible to believe not a single person knows what stars are. Or what oceans look like, or what anything in nature is. For that to happen it would take centuries of being locked in a vault.

It was mentioned in an earlier episode that they have been in there for 150 years.

The suppression of "relics" is an attempt to obliterate a collective societal memory of the time before the Silo.

That's about 2 lifetimes. In that time no one told people in their inner circle about what earth is all about? Stars, waterfalls, animals.... all wiped from memory?

No one stops to think, the Silo exists in what? No one knows what a planet is? They know all about physics and technology in general but have zero concept of the literal universe they exist in? That's about the greatest suspension of disbelief ever.

And why is judicial so desperate to hide the truth? If outside the Silo is a livable environment why would it be mission critical to hide that? They sure have some high end tech to be able to show augmented reality on every window. I actually love that about the show what we see of their computer technology looks 70's retro but is far more capable. That creates space, meaning world building that is familiar but also unlike anything in our world.

I'd love it if in time the allegory weaves a narrative parallel to what's happened throughout human history in respect to suppression of rights and freedoms, and suppression of truth because of belief.

I'm on episode five of The Leftovers, and it just isn't doing it for me. No idea what's going on, and I haven't latched onto a single character enough to care.

Has anybody watched this? Does it improve?
