It's like when a bear awakes from hibernation and someone comes by and drops off a freshly killed deer for it.

He said he had Rick get some shots in on the Governor during their fight, then they had Michonne stab him with the sword, and then they had Lilly finish the job. Darryl, Maggie, and Glen being the only other 3 characters who would have been satisfying to finish the job.

He still stated that they didn't make his death "satisfying" because he should not be as memorable a character as someone like Hershel and someone more beloved.
Not showing the final kill shot was the part that was not "satisfying". I even thought for a moment that maybe they would leave him alive to come back. Satisfying to me would have been for Lilly to look down at him, about to shoot him, with him still being alive and then looking over to see the walkers coming. The Governor seeing the walkers coming but not able to move and then the walkers of course eating him alive.
Now that would have been a "satisfying" death. What they did by not even bothering to show the kill shot was what Kirkman was talking about.

No, he said in the comics the death was not satisfying. Watch the video I posted.

I watched him on the Talking Dead. He did say that the Gov got more of a death on the show with three people being involved, but he specifically alluded to them not showing the kill shot as not as "important" a death as others.

Would make for a pretty weak zombie show if they all started to decay into steaming piles of mush.

I also watched the Talking Dead and I didn't hear him say that, so agree to disagree.
Herschel was still alive after the first hack and scurried out of the way from the gun fire. The Governor comes over and starts trying to chop his head but yet we don't see him finish the job, we just see the Governor swinging the sword. We never see the kill shot, unless you count an out of focus shot of the head and body on the ground.
Michonne stabs the Governor in the chest and we see him laying in the field slowly dying, just like we saw Herschel laying by the tank dying. Lilly comes over and shoots him and we never see the kill shot.

That's true. I don't think the actors are even allowed to divulge what really is happening in future episodes either, I mean watching Morrissey on Talking Dead after I saw the mid - season finale, he has a good poker face when everybody waa postulating what was going to happen next for the Governor.
Also it seems that everybody is pretty ignorant about how to permanently kill a walker. She may not have shot him in the brain.

Didn't he tell her and her sister exactly how to kill one though?

Yeah.
I'm assuming the question you asked about the spoilers is something about the graphic novels.
Not really your fault as it DID come up in the Talking Dead. But probably best to keep it out of here.
Actually Ken, regarding that, it's a fair question as it did come up in the Talking Dead and he probably doesn't want to go into the graphic novel thread for fear of having something spoiled.
Maybe for now just PM they guy UCB, but I would think in spoilers it should be ok, right community?

The original spoilers were about the TV show- and as mentioned were brought up on Talking Dead. But UCB's question was intended to get a response from somebody who read the comics. That would have turned this into a spoiler-fest again; and I was trying to nip it before it started.
If somebody wants to ask questions about stuff that goes on in the comics; they should use that thread.

so i haven't participated in this thread before and only read the last few pages, so apologies if this first part has been adressed...
what did you guys think of the flow of the fall season? at first i was very perturbed that they totally ignored the governor for so many episodes and then devoted 2 straight episodes entirely to him. it felt like poor story telling so do it that way. however, as the last 2 episodes played out, i was actually happy they did it that way; because it didn't drag out the conflict like last spring did. we spent 8 weeks just waiting for the final episode and the attack. whereas this fall, from the time you learn the governor is even still alive until the time everything is resolved is much shorter. just wanted to know what everyones thoughts were.
another question i wanted to throw out there... my co-worker and i were discussing the lack of overweight people on the show. considering how obese america is (specifically the deep south where they are) shouldnt there be more fat people? in our discussion we hypothisized that there wouldnt be many fat survivors left because they would have thinned up by now with all the activity and lack of food. but it feels like there should be a LOT more fat zombies. especially if we work under the assumption that a majority of overweight people turned pretty early due to their lack of physical abilities required to survive. and dieing early would mean a greater probability of being a zombie. people that are killed now are often totally devoured and never get a chance to be a zombie unlike those that turned early on.

Lol, of all the aspects of the show that have been debated, this has to be the oddest.

Finished Breaking Bad, Orange is The New Black and House of Cards a few months ago. Had time to start another show so I just started this show yesterday. On the last episode of season 1! Will catch up in the next few weeks on Netflix. Great show so far, really enjoying it!
