Ya, it was crystal clear here, totality was amazing! Like the most brightest ring you could ever imagine! Something you never forget!

Checking in:

We woke up in Napanee and drove east to southern Quebec this morning. Found a nice small field so we could have a fairly unobstructed view of the sw. There was some high cirrus cloud that I thought was going to taint the event but in the end it didn’t matter.

Today’s experience ranks as one of the coolest things I’ve ever witnessed. To be able to look directly at the sun and see a glowing iridescent ring encircling a black disc in the sky was truly spectacular.

No video, picture or story will ever be able to perfectly encapsulate what it actually looks like. It was simply incredible.

10/10 would do again

Lchoy we toured Kingston yesterday and it was pretty much a perfect day. Where did you end up watching? You say totality you got a gap in those high clouds?

The only thing is just how low in the sky it will be, here's hoping for minimal/no cloud near the horizon. Calgary is pretty much dead centre in the path of totality for it too.

Yeah I scoured the internet last night for an accurate depiction of what it looks like… couldn’t find anything. I keep describing it like a scene from a sci-fi movie. It went from “wow this is so cool” to “holy ####ing #### what is happening!?” the second totality started. The image is literally, and figuratively, burned into my brain.

I also wasn’t prepared for the added beauty of Venus popping into visibility during those few moments.

Yup, I still get goosebumps thinking about seeing the 2017 eclipse. Photos/videos will never do it truly justice, it is an event you have to witness with your own eyes.

Maybe I am just being cynical, but part of me thinks the only reason dentists would be against the proposed national dental care plan is because they know they can’t upsell the patients on other stuff, so they don’t want those patients.

Speaking of, I wonder if there were any planes that flew a route that gave you a longer period of totality.

Yes, a few commercial flights and a ton of general aviation flights.

For the 2017 eclipse we were able to book a hotel room in Idaho Falls about a year and half in advance.

My buddy in McKinney kept his 5 yr old home so they could watch together supervised.
I have no doubt it was a liability thing yet my niece and nephew in Montreal were issued with glasses at school in order to view it (grade 5 and 7).
