Acapulco had a direct hit from a Category 5 hurricane. It intensified from Tropical Storm to Category 5 in 24 hrs and it was a direct hit.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/26/weath...day/index.html

Brand new resports/Condo buildings were stripped down to the studs.

We should ship your kind off to Antarctica (or Edmonton) since you love it so we can enjoy our 35C in peace.

The article actually says 12 hours but that's insane how quickly it grew from a tropical storm. With warming oceans I imagine we'll start seeing more and more hurricanes form with little advanced warning.

Acapulco looks like a war zone.

Wind Warning
Issued at Sat 12:12 PM Nov. 11
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

Strong winds with gusts up to 90 km/h are expected today.

Winds from the west will strengthen this morning. These strong winds will continue until this evening.

###

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
I've been on CP too much of late. I thought it was odd that they were censoring out the word "ass" in their warning.

Lost a patio chair cover to the wind. Recovered the chairs and cushions at least!

I remember we'd had a wind storm a few years back and we lost our patio umbrella. It got lifted off the deck, up over the house, across the street and 7 houses down the road.

I mean...man...I wish I'd been there to see that happen. That would have been a helluva sight.

Just checked my deck and all my chairs and table have blown to one side and up against the railing.

Guessing the wind caused a power outage SW of the city just before 11am. Been pounding beers for 3 hours to make sure they don’t go bad.

We deserve a mild November for some outdoor activities to make up for being smoked in all summer.

We've been a bit milder in Portland, but definitely not drier like it's supposed to be. Almost gotten the entire month's normal rainfall in the first 12 days (4.3 inches / 5.4 so far).

Really hoping the mildness stays -- the last two winters were well below normal temp wise

Agreed, ski season off to just an awful start. Lots of time to go obviously but they aren’t getting a good early base.

Yeah, I've been able to play catch with my son outside every day of their "fall break" which I wouldn't have necessarily expected.

Went to a local deli recently and had to spend my entire visit listening to the owner regal me as to how Acapulco was a Geo-engineered event orchestrated by the Masons to force the inhabitants out. Much like Hawaii. Can't say ill be back which is too bad, the sandwiches satisfy a craving from time to time. He then went on to play videos on the subject on his "non genuine" copy of Win7 PC he had out near the tables. It was a weird dining experience.
