Got to suck for Bennett. Going from a Memorial Cup contender to a team playing out the string.

In a sense yeah, but for a player his age, playing at the level he's playing at, being on a winning team should be merely a bonus.
His first priority should be focusing on doing what he needs to do to reach the next level. Don Hay has groomed a lot of future NHLers over the years, so getting the opportunity to play for him should be one he grabs onto and runs with, no matter what the situation with the team is.

Michael Ferland had the Gordie Howe hat-trick last night against the Hitmen. 22 points in 23 games - looks like a great late-round pick thus far.

button was saying he had a lot of offensive potential coming out of midget, much like holland did.
if this is the case and arnold develops, we could have 6 solid prospects from that draft with all our picks coming after the 3rd round. Rutkowski is the only prospect I would have taken since he was drafted right after ferland in the 5th. perhaps the arnold pick could have been trutkowski, but only time tells the truth with this game.

Ferland really struck me as an interesting prospect. I was youtubing his fights after we drafted him and noticed the guy can really fight. He fights like Wendel Clark, that is, all out and each punch is going for the knockout.
It's good to see he has some skill too.

Bennett now has a goal in all three games with the Giants. Whatever happens with the team, this move looks to have helped him.

It sounds like he's taking advantage of the situation. Maybe now he's getting more and better ice time.
I remember when Iggy got traded to Calgary and he was relieved to find out it wasn't at the time, the lowly Hitmen as Kamloops was a top team.

Sorry for the double post, accidentally posted it in the Playfair thread, meant to post in this thread.
Dave Sheldon interviewed Jay Feaster tonight since he was in town watching the Heat with Brent Sutter. From memory here's the content of the interview:
- Doesn't believe in an all out blow up of a franchise, especially in a Canadian market.
- Said for every Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, and Chicago (who got top picks in consecutive years and are successful rebuilds) there are several other teams who were not successful at rebuilds and are "lost in the forest".
- Said the Flames best line in the last month or so has been the 4th line.
- Since the 4th line is working so well there's presently no players in Abby that can come up to the Flames (basically implying that none of the Heat players can crack the Flames lineup at this point in time).
- Specifically named Stone and Meyer as the first players in line to be able to play the 4th line role if something happens to one of our 4th line players
- When Sheldon commented on Nemisz, Feaster said he'll be an awesome player in 2-3 years. He also mentioned Bouma as being a good prospect that will be ready in the same sort of time frame.
- Feaster said the Flames don't have a 'sandpapery' defenceman (Sheldon's phrase) in the lineup other than Sarich. Said the Flames could use a d-man like Pelech in the Flames lineup to add grittiness to the defence.
- Said he liked 'some' of the prospects in the minors and overseas right now, specifically naming Howse. Said he's looking forward to seeing Howse as a pro next season.
- Said he didn't move his family across the country just to sit back and do nothing. He plans on being an active Acting GM and if Ken King doesn't like what he's doing, he's looking forward to being an active Assistant GM to a new GM.

Negrin has a doctor's appointment on the 10th, and will either be cleared to play or not.
He has been skating at practices. Playfair said he is expected to be back in the lineup soon.

based on the flames and the heat play, it bodes well for him to be used to relying on very little offense...

Loving those stats from Ortio! If Irving can maintain the stats he has right now, then Ortio and Irving are going to make an unbelievable duo.

Ortio went 3-0 with one shutout. He played six games but I guess TSN doesn't count the games that went to OT or shootout.
He finished with the best GAA and second in save percentage.

So I wonder if one of those two will get called up if Kostopulous gets suspended for the hit on Stuart which he most likely will.

Heat won 3-2 in a shootout last night.
They were up 2-0 with 5 min left in the third period, but gave up two quick goals.
The Heat have been pretty good at shootouts this season. They're 6-3 so far this season.
