Hell of a period, but this game is a long, long ways from being over. Hopefully the veteran guys like Niedermayer, Iginla, etc. can help the team maintain the mindset that it came into the game with and they can keep rolling in the 2nd. A quick goal and Russia's right back in it, so it's imperative they keep on the gas. Easier said than done though.

Wow what a period. Have to keep on it though, Russia's forwards are fully capable of getting back in this. Unbelievable play by Canada in that period.

When we're putting serious pressure on Nabakov I seriously get shivers ... let alone my reaction when we score. GOD I love playing Russia.

And now Ovechkin is seeing what It would be like to be in the western conference in the NHL. Poor poor AO. You will never have a Stanley cup buddy.

For all of those people doubting why Richards and Morrow were picked for this team, two important pieces to Team Canada.

How many plays did Iggy break up that period? 3? 4?

From here on out if Canada wants to win this one they have a choice of 2 things

1)Continue to play the way they are, no foot off gas pedal, no letting up like against the Germans

2)Score 32 goals in the first 2 minutes of the second period to assure Russia has no chance of coming back

Ovechkin = completely and utterly neutralized. I didn't even notice him once.

Richards and Morrow really proving their worth right now.

Bergeron not so much. Glad he's benched.

I'm gonna have to go with option 1, just a hunch that it has a better chance of succeeding.

Russia wasn't ready to play. They have no team apart from the offensive zone. Did they actually think they'd have a chance like that? Floating around against Canada. Just terrible. I almost can't believe my eyes.

And Nabokov has done nothing to help his team.

He had a couple chances, one right in the slot that he wired wide.

Yeah. Russia has one play. Run around intheir own zone and hope to get a stretch pass off.

Cuthbert's enthusiasm reminds me of the 03-04 run. Especially that Nash goal.
