That can't be long enough. I regularly get stuck @ Crowchild and 5th NW and the 5 Ave light is 3 minutes. (I time it regularly!)

Has anyone noticed a difference this week? I've been out of town riding a school bus to the oil sands, so im curious to see if the adjusted timings are reducing the grossness of that interseciton.

I've noticed quicker movement on Bow Trail recently. Today, I actually noticed a large break in traffic at Westbrook Mall at 8:15 this morning!!

Oh man I hate that light! Nothing is worse then turning west on 5th ave off of 23rd st just in time to see the light turn green. You want to punch it so you can make the light but the god damn playground zone is in the way. You end up pushing it at around 37km/hr hoping you can make it in time but you never do...

I got a fataing speeding ticket in that zone too - 43 km/h. Lesson learned! Wasn't worth making the light, for sure. Meanwhile, the playground zone, that doesn't have a fence surrounding it, two blocks away is a freeway (6 ave between 27 and 28th Sts and 27 St between 4 and 6 Aves) and I have yet to see a photo van there... ever.

A few photos from today.

45th Street Station looking east

A bit further into the site

The crane that you see is actually on two tracks, and whenever there is material to be moved from one side of the site to the other (i.e. materials are delivered at the entrance to the site near the 45th Street roadway and are needed closer to where the orange tarps are), the whole crane is moved along the tracks. I tried to get a better picture of this in action but my batteries died in my camera.

Looking west from the 45th street roadway

The tracks will eventually be roughly where the brown gravel path is.

Some photos I took today of 69th Street Station.

Looking east from the bottom of the excavation

The green pipe running over the trench is a city sewer main, this should be covered up by the time the station is done. The wooden thing above it is a walking bridge for construction workers. In the distance you can see the temporary bridge for the 17th Avenue detour route and the dual tunnels.

Looking west from the bottom of the excavation

The east end of the station platform will start just beyond the grey concrete cylinder (it's a manhole for those who don't know what a manhole looks like when it is exposed). It still needs to be excavated obviously. The 69th Street bridge is in the distance behind the dirt hill

Looking east down the "inbound" side of the track bed

Just a closer shot of the mudslab, the lowest part of the trackbed.

Looking up one of the walls of the trench

This is a shotcrete wall with anchor bolts, which are drilled into the wall and keep it stable. This isn't the finished product, which will look like the decorative wall finishings in the 45th Street Station pictures I posted last week.

Looking west from the wooden temporary bridge over the trench.

Looking east from the wooden temporary bridge.

Great stuff as always frinky. Another tunnel section appears to have been completed at Westbrook as well; under the temporary bridge beside Boston Pizza.

Nothing other than give them my money for passes or fares.

I work for a company that gets subcontracted by construction contractors to provide services on various construction sites. That includes working on some LRT sites now and again.

All I know is that he can't be an engineer (as their photos always end up with date stamps on them )

Here's some photos from this morning of the Sirocco Station area.

Sirocco Station from the ground

Sirocco Station from above

Down 17th Ave., 45th Street area and crane in the distance

Utility station across from Sirocco Station

A pile-driver is on site, and has already put in most of the piles (brown steel elements sticking out of the ground) that the building will sit on.

Utility station from another angle

Wall detail of utility station, showing array of anchor bolts in the shotcrete wall
