Sam Allen retired?

What ever happened to Godfrey Ellis? I always viewed him as a potential starter - is he slotted to be one of our starting guards this year?

And of course, Cody Pickett will be the #3, which I think we all would have laughed at a week ago. but after his performance on Sunday, he deserves the spot, IMO.
I knew Eubanks is in trouble when Hufnagel put Milton Collins back to secondary. Huf was not happy with the way the halfback namely Eubanks and Raymond. Huf kept Raymond because he is versatile and now playing as an LB. I also thought Champion and Kean will be gone as well. It looks like the Stamps will stay with only one import OL instead of 2. I wouldn't be surprised if Huf ask Eubanks to stay as a practice roster but I doubt he will stay. He played last season but he was having so much problem in this training camp.

Raymond hasn't played HB at all during camp, he has been at SAM linebacker from the start. In the case of Eubanks, it wasn't that Huff was or wasn't happy with his play, a rookie by the name of Johnnie Dixon has come in and recorded interceptions in both games with one being an 85 yard pick six. The guy is a ridiculously young 21 and has the size (5'11) that Chris Jones loves from his DBs. There was no way you let a guy like him get away and Eubanks was the casualty to that fact.

As for the OL import issue. The Stamps will still be starting two imports with right tackle Edwin Harrison back from injury and practicing. Harrison and Allen have both been impressive in camp so it shouldn't be a noticeable difference between players.

more cuts:

Calgary Stampeders head coach/general manager John Hufnagel has announced the release of the following players:
  • Import defensive back Raymond Brown
  • Import offensive lineman Stanley Bryant
  • Import linebacker Ray Cheatham
  • Non-import fullback Mike Cornell
  • Import receiver Ronald Keels
  • Non-import receiver Johnny Forzani
  • Import defensive lineman Kenny Mainor
too bad for Forzani...we lost a 3rd rounder for that gamble. Thought Keels might have a shot.

Most of these guys will probably be signed to the practice roster.

Both Keels and Forzani will be on the practice roster, so I think they'll both get some playing team this season.

Looks like the Stamps have picked up Ticats castoff Zac Carlson.

http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=325556

It was a calculated gamble on Hamilton's part as Carlson lost his final season of NCAA eligibility at Weber State after testing positive for marijuana. He spent much of last season on the CFL club's injured list.
When Carlson reported to training camp, he was in a battle for a roster spot as the Ticats had eight Canadian offensive linemen on their roster.
Carlson has since signed with the Calgary Stampeders. The Ticats and Stamps had trade discussions involving Carlson last week, but Hamilton was also shopping him around leading up to the draft.

I am glad Stampeders didn't panic earlier and picked up Carlson on a trade. They could have given up a draft pick or a roster player for him. Since they waited patiently, they got him for free.

Watching the Eskimos/Stamps game, Maver was far and away the best kicker between the two. Kean was downright terrible.
