Hrmm I have been to that Craft but still forgot about it.. ya they had a great beer selection. That might have to be it. Do they still serve "pints" or do they have pints yet?
I kid.. I kid.. thanks for that suggestion.

Highly easy, rewarding and cheap to brew your own beer.

This is true. My apartment here in Shanghai is not gigantic by any means, but it's fine for brewing. The space required is very little.
I have a Belgian tripel that is pretty much ready to go right now and be bottled. A keg set up is ideally what I would like to put it into, but don't have that just yet.
I have never used a home brew kit. I was just instructed in whole grain brewing by a friend of mine and it's really not too difficult. If I was in Canada where supplies were cheaper and easier to get I would do a lot more. It's a cool hobby.

Im probably a little late on this one, but I had a couple Leffe Blond's on the weekend- amazing beer. Picked up 6 bottles last night- A little pricey at $17, but worth it.
Anyone know if you can buy Staropramen in Calgary- pub or retail?

Anyone try the new Alexander Kieths Ale that they are rolling out?
I bought a six pack of the Hallertauer Hop Ale, was really pleasantly surprised. While I was expecting something with the name "Hop" on it to have a hoppy taste, it was actually milder than expected, which for me was the only disappointing part.
It basically tastes like what you think Alexander Keith's should actually taste like, as in it actually has a good spice and body to it instead of it's usual mass produced taste. I hope it really takes off because if this becomes the norm out of the big beer companies, it will give me a lot more options at bars that usually just have Canadian, Coors etc on tap.
I think it actually does measure up to some good craft beers, and they really hit a homerun with this one. While it's still brewed to appeal to the mainstream population, I think I'll definitely be having it as my choice when I'm just having a bunch of beers and not when I'm enjoying just a beer with a steak or something.

I had a couple bottles of Hacker-Pschorr Weisse a couple weeks ago, and it is one of my favourites that I've had so far
Also, I had a Granville Island winter ale the other day. It tasted like chocolate, but it was actually pretty good.

I remember my first GIWA five years ago or so. Had one, loved it. Bought a six pack the next week, drank two, gave the rest away.
It's good for one at a time, but horrible as a six-pack!

I had that Ambush Pale Ale at District when I was there last month, man that was a good session beer. It was about what you would expect from a brew pub, nothing over the top but a good beer you could drink all night.
It was good enough for me to go out of my way to go back for next time I am in town. I originally was hoping for the Propeller IPA, but they were out.. however I didn't leave disappointed.

What's that like?
Have you tried Peche Mortel or Aphrodisiac from Dieu du Ciel brewery?

Good stuff. I only bought 6, but I have resisted the temptation to open them thus far. Have them safely tucked away under my basement stairs waiting for a special occasion to break them out.

Bump
I'm right now drinking something called Salty Scot, made by Parallel 49 Brewery. It's a sea-salted carmel scotch ale, and DAMN this is a good beer!

Must be a new to Calgary brewer as I haven't seen them since I picked some up last week. I got the Hoparazzi. A really good IPA. Also picked up a Granville Island Imperial IPA in a 650ml bottle. It's a strong beer at 8.6% and my one word review on it is: tasty. Can't go wrong with anything from Granville Island.

Tried this strong Scotch ale a little while back when I was visiting D.C. I have yet to see it since. Easily one of the best beers I've had in a while.
