Nice job Russic
I heard there were 3 endings so is it possible to go back to the last mission and get another ending, or is strictly determined from past choices so you'll have to start the game all over again and make different choices?

Officially took me 17 days. I obviously don't have it 100%, but the story is out of the way. Usually I stop after the story, but I'll definitely be getting all the stunt jumps and perhaps trying for the pigeons.

Now that I'm done I'll give my final review, short and sweet:
The scope is incredible, the city really feels authentic and the attention to detail is staggering. Story was phenomenal (for a video game). In keeping with realism the missions didn't have as much variation to them as previous games. Whether this is a bad thing or not is up to the individual gamer. Excellent game but the fact that it's missing several of the features from the previous games keeps it from being perfect in my eyes.

Russic's final review score: 9.6
i just recently unlocked the whole city. How close am i to finishing?

lchoy: hmmm, 3 endings you say? I would save a game near the end (you'll know when) just in case. I didn't and I'm starting to regret it.

flamingchoy (are you two related?): I can't say for sure. Off the top of my head I'm going to ballpark it at about 6-10 hours remaining.

You finished?? Wow! Props to you. I'm currently stuck (and by stuck, I mean failed twice) on the mission where you have to kill the three strip club managers. And idea on the best way to beat it? I kept starting at the back of the club and got arse raped by bouncers galore. What was your approach?

Ahh yes the infamous killing of the bouncers. I died a bunch there too. Your strategy of starting at the back is pretty smart. I went all the way to back, killed the doorman and then waited for the 1st bouncer to show his his head. From there I waited in that tunnel for a bit and got rid of the few that run to the entranceway. If you can clear that off you can jump behind the bar (just outside the hallway) and use the cover system like a mother*&#^#$.

I think you have the right idea, just need to figure out where the problem guys are hiding.

Easier method for that mission:
<
Park a car, leave engine running outside. Listen to the conversation to reveal the bouncer in the private room. Kill him. The other two will immediately dash out the back. Go out through the MAIN door and into your car. The other two will end up running from the back entrance and across the street to a parked truck (directly across the street from the parking lot). Just gun them down as they run for the truck. If they make it and drive away, just chase them now firing your SMG until truck explodes. At least that's how it worked for me. Also, make sure you go into the club unarmed when you first walk in and scout. As soon as you cycle to a weapon, that's when club security gets activated. >

Anybody man enough to go after all the jumps or pigeons? Last night I began to tackle the jumps. I couldn't find a good enough map to print off showing them, but I did find a google map of liberty city. I devoted the last half hour of my day constructing a hi-res pdf from it. Actually turned out quite well. I showed it to my wife and I think it made her sad.

lol. I can just picture it.

You: "Look honey! I managed to define the map of Liberty City to the point that I think I can see where every jump is, thereby giving me the ability to get closer to 100%!!"
Her: Who are you?

It was more like:

wife: But I thought you finished the game?
me: ya but you see there are these jumps that I want to hit
wife: what happens when you hit these jumps?
me: well it goes all slo-mo like this *random swish noise for some reason while moving my hand through the air*

Then she just stared at me. They always just stare. I can't wait to assemble and explain my "pigeons of Liberty City" pdf.

"you see there are these pigeons . . . "

Again, pleased that I have the g/f I have. I fully expect before to long she will be shoving me off the couch and taking the controls herself. She's a bit of a freak, she's into games like this.

So, Ive never really played the whole GTA series (except Vice City on my PSP and that only lasted about a day). I see Futureshop has a bundle where you get SA, VC and GTA 3 (PC) all in one pack for $40. Seems like an ok deal I guess. If I load all that up tonight any recommendations on which game to start with?

Other than GTAIV, GTA III is my favorite game of the series. And since I enjoyed that a lot, I also really like GTA Liberty City stories on the PSP. GTA III comes first in line anyways, so you might as well start there.

Spoilers ahead for GTA IV:

I just passed the mission where you have to rob the bank with Packie and his brothers. What an annoyance that mission is. It takes ten minutes just to get from Packies house to the bank, so if you die along the way, it takes a very long time to get back to where you start the actual mission. I wish there were checkpoints for some of these mission.

Going through the game slowly... I just killed Vlad... man, I hate driving around to explore, and then I head on to a bridge to the other side, but can't find my way back... then I end up spending like the next hour trying to find the friggin' bridge back....

why not just use your map? Can't you just GPS your way back to the bridge?

I never played GTA 3, but I thought Vice City was incredible when I first popped it in. There are all sorts of additional features in SA (working out, jetpack, flying planes, bigger city, etc.) so playing that one first might make VC somewhat of a letdown. That's not to say it isn't an awesome game, it just makes a little more sense to play that one before you play SA.

Here's a link that might help some pf you guys with the achievements- didn't read through the whole thread so I'm not sure if it's already been posted. Certainly has helped me, although I still can't seem to blow up 10 cars in 10 seconds or get 5 flips with a car off a jump.

You certainly can. Just press start, hit A on the map menu, press RT to zoom in, and press A again to set a waypoint. Then back out of that menu, and the waypoint shows up in green on your GPS.

Also, use the LB when a cab drives by to flag it down and use it to get to your next destination. Costs only $10-40 per trip, and saves you a ton of time.

Yeah, dying during missions like that and then having to do all the driving over and over again sucks. But that mission was kickass! One of my favorite all-time GTA missions for sure. I loved the combat/run/combat/run sequence to it, and it was damn satisfying when completed.
